26 March, 2025 - Land Rover has launched the new Defender Octa in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs 2.59 crore. It is exclusively offered with the 110 (5-door) body style and received multiple changes to differentiate itself from the standard car. 

6 January 2025 - Land Rover has launched the 2025 version of the Defender SUV with multiple changes. The Defender 130 now gets new seating layout, while more variants now get a new 5.0L V8 engine.

The new Defender is available in 3 body styles - 90, 110 and 130 - and in total of 15 variants. The Land Rover Defender price in India starts at Rs ₹1.05 Cr.* and extends up to Rs ₹2.79 Cr.*. All the prices are ex-showroom, Pan-India.

In terms of features, the new Land Rover Defender gets a 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a sliding panoramic sunroof and Meridian Surround Sound System. It gets 14-way heated and cooled electric memory front seats with 4-way manual winged headrests, Windsor leather seats, electrically adjustable steering coloumn and others.

Safety Features of Defender

The Land Rover Defender is one of the safest SUVs on sale in India. It scored a five-star safety rating in the crash tests conducted by the EURO NCAP. 

For safety and security, the SUV gets six airbags, emergency brake assist, 360-degree camera with Ground View, hill descent control, All-Terrain Progress Control, electronic stability control, roll stability control and a comprehensive suite of ADAS functions, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and others. 

Engine Specifications

Underneath the hood, the SUV can be had from five engine options: a 2-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol (296bhp/400Nm), a 3-litre six-cylinder diesel with 48V mild-hybrid tech (345bhp/700Nm), a 5-litre V8 petrol (419bhp/550Nm), a 5-litre supercharged V8 petrol (518bhp/625Nm), and a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid tech (626bhp/750Nm), all get an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an AWD system with a low-range transfer case.

Dimensions and Boot Space

The Defender’s proportions are different for different models (90, 110 or 130). The 90 measures 4,583mm in length, while the Defender 110 is 5018mm long. The Defender 130 measures 5,358mm in length. Both 110 and 130 have a ground clearance of 3022. The width and height of the 110 stands at 2105mm and 1967mm, respectively. 

All models have a ground clearance of 229mm, which can be increased with air suspension. The entry-level Defender 90 has a boot space of 397-litres, which can be increased to 1231-litres by folding the rear seats. The Defender 110 has a luggage carrying capacity of 786-litres, which can be expanded up to 2,380-litres.
