Land Rover is all set to launch the 2026 Defender in India with a mix of fresh design elements and premium new features. While the SUV keeps its tough and adventurous DNA intact, subtle updates inside and out make it more refined and modern.
On the exterior, the MY26 Defender gets a few subtle yet noticeable design changes. There is a new bonnet script that gives the front a sharper appearance, along with textured bonnet inserts and updated side vent patterns.
The SUV also features glossy black wheel caps with ‘Defender’ branding for a premium touch. The headlights now have updated graphics, and the rear lights get a new flush-mounted smoked design, giving the SUV a more modern appeal.

Inside, the 2026 Defender focuses on comfort. The cabin now feels more spacious, with the V8 P425 variant getting a reclining and sliding second row, ideal for long drives or off-road adventures.
A large 13.1-inch touchscreen takes centre stage and runs the latest Land Rover infotainment system. There is also a 12.3-inch digital driver display and an optional head-up display for key information on the go.
Land Rover has added a new driver attention monitoring system that detects fatigue and helps ensure safer journeys. The Defender also introduces new Alpine roof lights, letting in natural light for an airy cabin feel. Customers can choose between leather and non-leather upholstery options.
Other highlights include a Meridian premium sound system, improved cabin air quality with CO₂ management, and easy-to-clean materials that make life simpler after off-road trips.
Under the hood, the Defender continues with the same reliable engine lineup:
- A 2.0-litre turbo mild-hybrid petrol
- A 3.0-litre mild-hybrid diesel
- A 5.0-litre V8 petrol with 426 hp and 610 Nm of torque
All engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive as standard.
The Defender is available in three body styles - 90, 110, and 130. Prices currently start at around Rs 98 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 2.60 crore for the top-spec OCTA Edition One. The lineup also benefits from a recent price reduction of up to Rs 18.6 lakh due to the GST 2.0 reforms.
