New Freelander 8 Gets 46.3-Inch 8K Display, Huawei ADAS and 800V Platform

Freelander 8 gets a massive 46.3-inch 8K display. The SUV comes with Huawei ADS 5.0 and an 800V platform. It will be the first model under the new Freelander brand.

Chery-JLR has revealed the interior of the upcoming Freelander 8, giving us a closer look at the first production model from the new Freelander brand. Scheduled to make its debut in China later this year, the SUV brings a completely new cabin along with several advanced technologies.

The biggest highlights include a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic display, Huawei ADS 5.0 driver assistance system and an 800V electrical architecture.

Huge 46.3-Inch Display Takes Centre Stage

New Freelander 8 Gets 46.3-Inch 8K Display

The Freelander 8 features a clean and modern dashboard with a strong focus on digital displays.

Stretching across the dashboard is a 46.3-inch 8K panoramic screen, making it one of the largest displays offered in any production SUV. It is paired with a separate 15.6-inch touchscreen that handles infotainment and vehicle settings.

The centre console follows a bridge-style layout, creating additional storage space underneath while giving the cabin a neat appearance.

Premium Cabin With Physical Controls

Despite the large screens, Freelander has retained physical buttons for commonly used functions. The centre console features illuminated rotary controls made from K9 optical crystal, while 256-colour ambient lighting adds to the premium feel inside the cabin.

The front seats have also been designed with different priorities. The driver's seat offers a high seating position for better visibility, while the front passenger seat focuses on comfort with generous legroom, dedicated storage spaces, customised climate control and its own display.

Huawei ADAS Comes as Standard

The Freelander 8 will be equipped with Huawei Qiankun ADS 5.0 advanced driver assistance technology across the entire range. Unlike many premium SUVs where advanced safety features are limited to higher variants, Freelander will offer this system as standard.

Powering the SUV's digital functions is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8397 automotive processor, which supports the infotainment system, connected features and intelligent driving technologies.

Built on an 800V Platform

The new SUV is underpinned by an 800-volt electrical architecture, which supports faster charging and improved efficiency.

It also uses a newly developed Freevoy range-extender battery, jointly developed with CATL. In addition, the Freelander 8 comes with Huawei's i-ATS intelligent all-terrain system, designed to improve performance across different road conditions.

Could Influence Future Tata EVs

Reports suggest the platform used by the Freelander 8 could also play a role in the development of future Tata Avinya electric vehicles.

While there is no official confirmation that the cabin design will be shared, the new platform and technology could influence Tata's upcoming premium EV lineup.

With its 46.3-inch 8K display, Huawei ADAS, Snapdragon processor and 800V platform, the Freelander 8 is shaping up to be one of the most technology-packed SUVs from the Chery-JLR partnership. More details are expected when the SUV makes its official debut later this year.
