eVitara, Maruti’s first electric SUV, launches in December 2025. 500 km range and tech-packed features for India’s first EV SUV. Maruti eVitara to compete with MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and more.
The excitement is building as Maruti Suzuki prepares to launch its first-ever electric vehicle, the e-Vitara. With the launch just around the corner in December 2025, the e Vitara is set to make a big impact on India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. This much-awaited electric SUV has been designed not only for Indian customers but also for international markets, marking a significant milestone for the brand.
Unveiled earlier this year at the 2025 Auto Expo, the e Vitara is the first electric offering from Maruti Suzuki. This is a major leap for the company as it takes its first step into the electric vehicle market. Manufactured in India, the e Vitara is also part of Suzuki Global’s plan to bring electric vehicles to markets across the world. In fact, the first batch of 2,900 e Vitaras made in India has already been shipped to global markets.

Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility will be the sole production hub for the e Vitara, and this plant will produce both Indian and global-spec models. This not only highlights the quality of Indian manufacturing but also positions India as a key player in the global EV market. Additionally, a Toyota counterpart of the e Vitara, the Urban Cruiser EV, will also be produced at this same facility.
When the e Vitara hits Indian showrooms in December 2025, it will be available in three trims: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. These trims will be available exclusively through Maruti’s premium Nexa dealerships, following the same structure seen with other Nexa models.
The e Vitara will compete against some of the most popular electric SUVs in India, including the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6. With its competitive pricing and range of features, it’s set to make a strong statement in this growing segment.
The e Vitara will offer two battery options: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh. Depending on the chosen battery, the electric SUV will deliver 142 bhp or 172 bhp of peak power. Both versions will feature a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup, with no all-wheel-drive models available at launch.
One of the standout features of the e Vitara is its impressive range. Maruti Suzuki promises a maximum of 500 km on a single charge, making it one of the longest-range electric SUVs in its class.
Maruti Suzuki has made sure that the e Vitara offers a premium experience on the inside as well. The electric SUV will feature a floating center console, a 2-spoke steering wheel, and soft-touch plastics on the dashboard and door trims.
Some of the standout features of the e Vitara’s interior include:
- Large touchscreen infotainment system
- TFT instrument cluster
- Auto climate control
- Ventilated seats
- Glass roof
The e-Vitara’s interior is designed to be spacious and comfortable, thanks to its 2,700 mm wheelbase, which provides plenty of legroom despite its smaller size of 4.27 meters in length.
