Tata Motors, a household name since 1945 has dominated the Indian auto market on many fronts. A well-known car manufacturer worldwide, Tata gave India its first indigenous city car, the Tata Indica in 1998. Since then, the company has been innovating solutions like the ALFA-Architecture or the X1 platform for enhanced safety of its occupants. Additionally, the company has also been at the forefront of offering new products like the Nexon EV compact SUV, which has made electric vehicles mainstream in India.
At the start of 2022, Tata Motors bet big on electric vehicles and showcased two new concept cars – Tata Curvv and Tata Avinya. While the latter was a Gen3 EV, the Curvv concept found the market’s interest as Tata Cars second-generation electric vehicle. At the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata Motors solidified the four-wheeler launch plans by unveiling the Curvv ICE model.
And now ahead of its launch, spy shots have emerged showcasing the body of the new SUV at the brand's Ranjangaon plant. In this story, we will look at all the factors that make the Tata Curvv SUV a formidable force to look out for in 2024.

Since its first unveiling, the 2024 Tata Curvv concept has always featured a more evolutionary design compared to the existing Tata Cars. Based on the IMPACT 2.0 design language, the new SUV portrays the company’s digital design. A design that has inspired the looks of cars like the 2023 Tata Nexon, Nexon.ev Facelift and the upcoming Tata Harrier and Safari facelift.
Upfront the four-wheeler features LED DRLs pitched on the bonnet lining that extends across the width of the car along with a sleek front grille embossed with the Tata logo providing the SUV with a distinctive look. Other prominent elements include triangular-shaped LED headlamp housing, air blades in front of the front wheels, and black faux skid plates.

Moving to the sides, we get to see an aerodynamic coupe-like silhouette for the SUV along with a new extended aero blade gunmetal grey alloy wheel design. At the rear, the car sports a steeply raked windscreen along with hidden rear wipers, a spoiler, and a connected LED brake light bar. The multi-layer boot lid features prominent lines which all add to the overall character of the SUV.
Excluding these changes, the overall design of the SUV is in sync with the company’s recent models making it instantly recognisable as a Tata SUV.

On the inside, Tata Motors is all set to revolutionize the in-cabin experience with its futuristic cabin design. The all-new cabin layout is expected to feature a three-layer minimalistic design similar to the concept car. Centrepiece of the new cabin will be the large 12.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with an all-digital driver instrument cluster with multiple customizations. Other key elements could include a large panoramic sunroof, a haptic touch panel for HVAC, ventilated front seats, a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, and more.
When launched, the 2024 Tata Curvv concept is expected to be based on an updated X1 platform which will be re-engineered to be modular to accommodate both the ICE and EV powertrains. The updated chassis will have better rigidity and symmetric crash test performance making it one of the safest SUVs in the country.
In terms of engine options, the Tata Curvv ICE is expected to come equipped with the all-new 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre/2.0-litre diesel engine option. These units will come mated to either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AT, or a 7-speed DCA gearbox option.
On the EV version, Tata Motors is set to offer a 40.5 kWh battery pack that is rated for 465 km on a full charge.
So, with its revolutionary design, futuristic interior, and best-in-segment powertrain options, the new Tata Curvv concept when launched at the start of 2024 is expected to be a game changer in the Indian automotive market.
