The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is an SUV-inspired hatchback launched in 2019. It boasts boxy body styling and ground clearance is higher. The main idea is to draw customers who can get by on a small, though rough-and-ready vehicle. In 2023, the S-Presso was updated, and one variant has come with a more fuel-efficient 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine. This version is compliant to BS6 Phase 2 emissions and reduces negative impact on the environment.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is available in a price range of Rs. 426500 to Rs. 611500, ex-showroom. Divided into 8 variants, it is available in the following STD, LXI, VXI, and VXI+ trims and with CNG variants on both the LXI and VXI trims to best suit budgets and fuel preferences.
Considering the VXI is a value-for-money version of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, this nullifies affordability with features such as key upgrades like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front power windows, and keyless entry at reasonable prices. This particular variant is also available with an AMT gearbox that offers greater convenience in driving without cost escalation.
Key highlights of the S-Presso are a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with smartphone navigation, a digital speedometer, manual air conditioning, keyless entry, and hill hold to assist in the higher variants. These are the bare essentials that easily suffice for day-to-day driving in cities.
Amongst the rivals, if we talk about mileage, S-Presso has done the right thing with competitive fuel efficiency. The manual variants with petrol are delivering up to 24.76 kmpl and even the AMT models have returned 25.30 kmpl. The CNG variants are pretty cost-effective with a marvelous 32.73 km/kg, which is a great budget-friendly option for those drivers who care for their wallets.
How Safe is Maruti S-Presso?
The S-Presso comes with rudimentary safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and hill hold assist on AMT variants. This means the S-Presso can provide a solid level of safety even though it is quite compact.
The S-Presso comes in seven bright color options - Solid Sizzle Orange, Solid Fire Red, Metallic Granite Grey, Metallic Silky Silver, Pearl Starry Blue, Bluish Black, and Solid White. This makes it possible for the buyers to prefer color according to their personalities and make the car look more young.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is powered by a 1.0-litre K10C petrol engine. The engine churns out 66.03 bhp and 89 Nm of torque. Both 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) variants are available from the factory. The CNG variants are a bit lower, with an output of 56.22 bhp and 82 Nm of torque, and are available only with a 5-speed manual transmission.
Dimensions of the S-Presso include length of 3,565 mm, width of 1,520 mm, and height of 1,553 mm. It offers a car with a substantial wheelbase of 2,380 mm for that matter. The car provides 270 litres of boot space, which would be decent for a compact car. Its 180 mm ground clearance would help it ride over poor road conditions or uneven roads.
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso's main competitors come in the form of Renault Kwid and Maruti Suzuki Celerio. Whereas the former is a more modern design and slightly premium in its top variants, the latter comes out with a larger ground clearance and a wider dealership and service network. Other alternatives are the Maruti Wagon R and Alto K10 too, which are at par as far as pricing is concerned, with some added strengths about space and features of their own.
