XUV700 Electric named as Mahindra XEV 9S Launching on November 27, 2025 To rival Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7 Dual-motor AWD set-up
Mahindra & Mahindra has officially announced the name of its upcoming 7-seater electric SUV. Called the Mahindra XEV 9S, the new electric SUV is scheduled to be launched at Scream Electric event on November 27, 2025 in Bengaluru, India. It will be the biggest and top-of-the-line model in the brand’s Born-electric range, and will sit above the XEV 9e SUV Coupe.
Mahindra has officially announced that the Big New Electric XEV 9S will be launched at Scream Electric event on November 27, 2025 in Bengaluru, India. We expect that the sales of the new EV will only begin from January 2026.
The new XEV 9S will be a 7-seater electric SUV based on the INGLO born electric platform, which also underpins the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 SUV Coupe’s. Set to be the flagship Mahindra EV, the new XEV 9S 7-seater SUV is likely to be priced around Rs 23 lakh to Rs 33 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV has no direct rival in our market, but it could impact the sales of the Tata Harrier EV, BYD Atto 3 and the VinFast VF7.
The Mahindra XEV 9S is likely to source its battery options with the XEV 9e, which is available with a 59kWh and a 79kWh LFP battery pack. These two electric Coupe SUVs are available in a rear-wheel-drive or a single-motor RWD set-up. However, the XEV 9S is most likely to be offered with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) options. The lower-spec models will continue to be offered in a RWD form.
The new electric SUV is likely to offer a realistic range of around 450-500kms in a single charge, which is similar to the XEV 9e and BE 6. The electric SUV will support fast charging, V2L and V2V functions.
The Mahindra XEV 9S will closely resemble the XUV700; however, it will have EV-specific design changes. The SUV will have a closed-off front grille, a full-width light bar, inverted L-shaped DRLs, new LED connected tail-lights, and an aero-optimised alloys.
The dashboard layout will be similar to the one offered with the XEV 9e. It will have a triple-screen dashboard with three 12.3-inch displays for infotainment, instrument cluster and passenger’s entertainment. The electric SUV will have a two-spoke steering wheel, AR-HUD, multi-zone climate control and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos.
The new electric SUV is likely to be offered with a 6-and 7-seat options. The six-seater model will come with captain seats in the second-row. These seats are likely to get electric adjustment and ventilation. Other features could include a panoramic sunroof or a fixed glass roof, LEVEL 2+ ADAS, 360-degree surround view camera, front and rear parking sensors, in-built dash cams and others.
