Buoyed by positive response for its new breed of cars and SUVs, Toyota is now planning to launch multiple new cars and SUVs in the Indian market. The company plans to launch multiple new SUVs with ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains. In this article, we bring you a list of top 4 upcoming Toyota SUVs in the Indian market.

Toyota will enter the Indian electric vehicle market with an all-new mid-sized electric SUV, called the Urban Cruiser EV. Expected to be launched in first half of 2026, the new Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is based on Suzuki’s e-HEARTECT platform that underpins the e Vitara. This electric SUV will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat based manufacturing facility.
In terms of proportions, the Urban Cruiser EV is 4285mm long, 1800mm wide and 1640mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2700mm. It will rival the likes of the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric. The electric SUV will be offered with two battery options - 49kWh and 61kWh - with a front-axle-mounted electric motor as standard. The higher-spec model with 61kWh battery is expected to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge.
Toyota is likely to launch the Hyryder facelift in 2026. The SUV is expected to share new-age features with the Maruti Victoris. The current model misses out on some key features, including ADAS. It is expected that the Hyryder facelift will come with LEVEL-2 ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, auto high beam and others.
The Toyota Hyryder facelift is likely to be equipped with powered tailgate with gesture control, a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and an 8-speaker infinity sound system with Dolby Atmos tech. Similar to the Victoris, the Toyota Hyryder could also get an underbody CNG tank. It won’t receive any mechanical changes and will continue to be offered with 1.5L petrol and 1.5L hybrid engine.

The Japanese brand will launch the new Land Cruiser FJ, the smallest member of the Land Cruiser family in India in 2028. The new SUV will be produced at Toyota’s new Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra. It is based on the modified version of the IMV platform that underpins the Fortuner, Innova Crysta and Hilux pick-up.
If reports are to be believed, the India-spec Land Cruiser FJ will come with petrol, strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine. The SUV is powered by a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 163hp and 246Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the four-wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV will rival the likes of the Mahindra Scorpio-N and Thar Roxx. It measures 4,575mm in length, and has a wheelbase of 2,580mm.
Toyota will introduce the next-gen Hilux lifestyle SUV in global markets in 2026. Adding to it, the company is also working on the next-gen Toyota Fortuner; however, the SUV is yet to enter testing phase. It will be based on the TNGA-F modular platform that currently underpins the Land Cruiser, Tacoma, 4Runner and other Lexus and Toyota models.
The next-gen Fortuner is most likely to share design with the Toyota 4Runner. It will have an aggressive front bumper, which will be designed to add improved off-road credentials. The new Fortuner will be powered by a new 2.8-litre diesel engine with an integrated starter generator. The SUV could also get a 2.4-litre hybrid turbo petrol engine, which powers few global Lexus and Toyota models.
