Volkswagen India has revealed details about its new flagship SUV, the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, ahead of its launch in India in the first quarter of 2026. This new SUV will be Volkswagen’s only 7-seater model in India, replacing the Tiguan Allspace, which was discontinued. It will be brought to India through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and assembled locally at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is a bigger version of the Tiguan with three rows of seats. It measures around 4.8 meters in length, with a wheelbase of 2,789 mm, giving it more space inside. The design is bold, with a strong, muscular look and sporty R-Line details. The front and rear of the SUV have sleek LED headlights and tail lamps with a connected light strip. It also features 19-inch alloy wheels, giving the SUV a more premium appearance.

Inside, the Tayron R-Line has a clean, modern design with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital cockpit, and a head-up display. It offers plenty of space for passengers across all three rows. The front seats are premium, with Varenna leather upholstery and features like massage functions and ventilation. The SUV also comes with a panoramic sunroof to give the cabin an open, airy feel.
The Tayron R-Line provides great boot space, with up to 850 liters when the third row is folded. Even with all seats up, it offers enough space for luggage, making it ideal for long trips.
The Tayron R-Line comes with high safety ratings, including a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. It also won the Golden Steering Wheel 2025 award for Best Family Car in Europe. These awards highlight Volkswagen’s commitment to safety and quality.
The Tayron R-Line in India will be powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, producing 204 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, making it suitable for both city and off-road driving.
The Tayron R-Line will compete with other large 7-seater SUVs in India, such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian, offering a combination of space, luxury, and sporty design.
