The Mahindra Scorpio has been the homegrown automobile manufacturer’s iconic product since its launch in 2002. While the overall boxy silhouette of the SUV has remained constant during its production so far, the SUV remains to command a powerful and confidence-inspiring stance on the road. The most popular colour of the Scorpio Classic remains white, more like an off-white shade. What also helps is the price bracket that the car has.
In the Rs. 13.62 lakh to Rs. 17.42 lakh range you will mostly find compact SUVs from carmakers like Skoda, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and Kia. It is the Scorpio Classic, however, that stays true to the original SUV DNA as it offers seven and nine-seat configurations.
The Scorpio Classic SUV comes equipped with a 2.2 litre, four-cylinder Diesel Engine that belts out 130 brake horsepower and 300 Newton metres of torque. There is also a micro-hybrid setup that works in conjunction with the internal combustion engine setup for better fuel economy and engine performance. The diesel engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox only.
Because of Mahindra’s years of experience in manufacturing diesel engines, it knows the secret sauce behind mills that work seamlessly in Indian terrains, enhancing the reliability factor. The same philosophy is behind Mahindra’s other line of engines that are being used in cars like the 3XO, XUV 700 and Thar.

With the Scorpio Classic’s base S model starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 13.62 lakh, Mahindra has ensured that the Scorpio Classic can be bought at a reasonable price. Yes, it may be low on the equipment on offer but with the aftermarket accessories available, you can customise the Scorpio Classic S to your liking, that too at attractive prices.
However, if you are willing to stretch your budget, Mahindra offers the S11 variant. Out of the two, the S11 is the range-topping trim that comes in seven and nine-seat configurations. It gets a lot of technology and features that the other variants miss out on.
Some of the features include gear shift indicator, a centre console armrest, cup holders at the front, automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel and cruise control. Other additional features include keyless entry system, roof-mounted sunglasses holder, follow me headlamps, rear glass wiper, defogger chrome accents at the front and projector LED headlamps as well.

Mahindra as an Indian brand has proved its mettle and has found favour in the eyes of its customers. This has also helped the brand to establish a cult-like fan following. Every launch from the brand excites Mahindra lovers and Scorpio Classic being a great selling product, SUV lovers are always looking for updates that Mahindra gives to its flagship car. Mahindra being a domestic brand has a sense of pride attached to it and owning a Scorpio Classic is always a sense of achievement for the buyers.
