The long-awaited third generation Renault Duster will finally arrive in our market on 26th January, 2026. It will be built on the heavily localised version of the CMF-B modular platform. Our sources reveal that the new-gen Duster will come with 3 engine options, including two turbo petrol and a single hybrid engine option. However, the 2026 Renault Duster hybrid will arrive in our market at a later stage.
The new Renault Duster will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that also powers the global-spec model. This engine produces up to 156bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
The lower-spec variants of the new Duster will be powered by an all-new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. It was speculated that the engine will be the same unit that powers the Kiger and Magnite; however, the new Duster will get an all-new powertrain. Exact specifications are yet to be revealed, but we expect the new engine to offer power and torque in-line with competition such as VW Group’s 1.0L and Hyundai’s 1.0L.
The new Duster will receive a hybrid powertrain before Diwali 2026, most probably around June-July. Exact details on the engine specifications are yet to be revealed. In the global markets, the SUV gets a 94hp, 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors - a 49hp motor and a high-voltage starter generator, and a 1.2kWh battery. The combined power output stands at 140hp. Renault global claims that the hybrid setup will allow Duster to cover up to 80 percent of city drive on pure electric.
The new Duster for India will look largely identical to the global-spec model. It will have a 10.1-inch central infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 7-inch digital driver’s display. Other features will include connected car tech, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, LEVEL 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof and others.
We believe that Renault would aim to price the new Duster aggressively in the market. The base variant could start at Rs 10 lakh and the top-spec model could costs around Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom. It will directly rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra and others in the mid-sized SUV category.
