Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce a new major SUV on September 3, 2025. While official name of the SUV is yet to be revealed, media reports point to the debut of the new Maruti Escudo. However, a new media report claims that the long-awaited Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be launched on September 3, and not Escudo.
It is reported that the first production unit of the electric Vitara SUV will roll out on August 26, 2025 at the Suzuki’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. This suggests that the e-Vitara could be the model to launch on September 3, 2025.
Due to shortage of rare-earth materials, Maruti Suzuki is facing production issues related to its first global electric SUV. In fact, MSIL has cut its production target by 69% from 26,512 units to 8,221 units. Maruti Suzuki officials had revealed that the e Vitara sales will begin by September 2025; however, this was stated when brands were not facing rare-earth material shortages
It is expected that Suzuki will first launch the e Vitara in global markets, followed by India. The Gujarat plant will act as a global export hub for the electric SUV. This electric SUV will be exported to over 100 countries.

- The Suzuki e Vitara will come with two battery choices - 48.9kWh and 61.1kWh - both paired to a front-axle-mounted electric motor. The electric SUV is claimed to offer a range of up to 500km on a single charge.
- Based on Suzuki’s new e HEARTECT scalable architecture which will also underpin a new Toyota electric SUV
- It will get LEVEL 2 ADAS, fixed glass roof, 360 degree surround view camera, a bigger 10.3-=inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 10-way powered driver’s seat and all disc brakes.
MSIL had announced to launch two new SUVs before the end of this year. A new midsize SUV has been spotted testing numerous times, and is rumoured to be called the Escudo. We believe that MSIL will aim to capitalise on the festive season by introducing the new 5-seater SUV.
We believe that Maruti Suzuki could announce both e Vitara and Victoris (Escudo) SUV on the same day. Another possibility could be the Escudo launch around October - November 2025.
- It will be a 5-seater mid-size SUV, which will be exclusively sold through Maruti’s ARENA dealership network.
- In terms of pricing, the SUV will be slotted between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara.
- The flagship ARENA SUV will come with petrol, a strong hybrid and a CNG powertrain
- Key features could include LEVEL 2 ADAS, Dolby Atmos audio technology, powered tailgate, an AWD system, etc.
- To rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Sellos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq. Honda Elevate and others in the midsize SUV segment,
