Mahindra has officially showcased the Vision X concept SUV during its 79th Independence Day celebrations. This new model is part of the brand’s upcoming SUV lineup based on the NU.IQ platform, which also includes the Vision S, Vision T, and Vision SXT concepts. Among the four, the Vision X is designed to be the most urban-friendly model in the range.

Mahindra confirmed that the Vision X will measure under 4 metres in length. This positions it directly against popular sub-compact SUVs like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon. The SUV aims to combine urban practicality with modern styling and advanced technology.
The Vision X rides on Mahindra’s NU.IQ modular platform, which offers flexibility in size, ranging from 3,990 mm to 4,320 mm. Despite its compact footprint, Mahindra claims it delivers the largest cabin space in its class for both sub-4m and 4.3m models.
This platform supports multiple powertrains – including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric – with FWD and AWD configurations. It’s also designed for both left-hand drive and right-hand drive markets.
The same NU.IQ platform will underpin three other Mahindra models, including the next-gen Bolero, which has already been spotted testing several times. This shared architecture allows Mahindra to adapt the design for various body styles and customer needs.
The Vision X concept gets a sharp, modern look with slender headlamps, a sleek airdam, and a long bonnet. The roofline tapers down at the rear, giving it a sporty coupe-like profile. Other highlights include flush door handles for a cleaner look and a dual-tone rear bumper for added visual appeal.
While Mahindra has not revealed the launch timeline, the Vision X concept gives a clear glimpse into the brand’s vision for its next generation of compact SUVs. With its versatile platform, spacious interior, and stylish design, it is set to be a strong rival in the highly competitive sub-4m SUV segment.
