Mahindra & Mahindra’s all-new NU_IQ modular, monocoque platform made its debut with four concept SUVs (Vision S, Vision X, Vision T and Vision SXT) at the last year’s Independence Day. The Mahindra Vision S is expected to preview a subcompact SUV that could join the rugged Scorpio family, while the Vision T and Vision SXT are likely to showcase an electric Thar and a Scorpio N pickup truck, respectively. The Mahindra Vision X, one of the most futuristic looking concepts, could preview a new model under the XUV brand.
Mahindra hasn’t yet announced the launch timeline for the production-ready Vision X subcompact SUV. However, it’s expected to arrive in 2027 or 2028.
Prices of the Mahindra Vision X concept-based urban SUV are expected fall in the range of ₹11.00 Lakhs* – ₹11.00 Lakhs* (ex-showroom).
Visually, the Vision X appears more like a compact crossover, deriving several styling cues from the XEV range. It carries an upright stance and offers a high ground clearance. The front fascia looks aggressive with the signature Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo, a closed-off grille, a bumper with slim lighting elements and fog lamp assembly similar to the XEV 9e.
The flush-fitting door handles and side door creases also seem inspired by the XEV 9e. However, the raked front windshield, sculpted bonnet and coupe-like rear windscreen and spoiler look identical those of BE 6. Other design highlights include aero-designed dual-tone alloy wheels with low profile tyres, black cladding at the front and rear, pronounced squared-off wheel arches and a silver side step.
The Mahindra Vision X concept shows a minimalistic interior layout with a combined display for the infotainment and instrument functionalities. It also features a D-cut two-spoke steering wheel, rectangular air-con vents, centre console with storage compartments, individual centre arm rests for the front passengers and a triple-tone dashboard. Similar to Mahindra’s new-age models, the Vision X-based subcompact SUV is expected to be offered with several advanced connectivity, comfort and safety features.
Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform supports multiple powertrains including ICE (internal combustion engine), hybrid and electric. The Vision X subcompact SUV is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options, while an electric powertrain could join the lineup at a later stage. The carmaker hasn’t yet made any official comment on its powertrain specifications.
As a sub-4 metre urban SUV, the Mahindra Vision X is likely to go against the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
