Mahindra Vision X Design Patented - Next-gen XUV 3XO

Mahindra Vision X based SUV design patented, previews next-gen XUV 3XO. It will be based on the NU_IQ modular platform. Both EV and hybrid versions could be launched.

We informed you earlier that Mahindra is preparing to launch 4 new SUVs based on the new flexible NU_IQ modular platform. The Vision S concept based compact SUV will be the first model to be launched within the next 6 months, followed by an all-new compact SUV based on the Vision X concept. A design patent of the new Mahindra Vision X concept based SUV has already been filed, revealing some of its design details.

The patent reveals the silhouette of the new compact SUV, and it looks similar to the concept that was showcased a year ago. It is reported that the new Vision X concept based model could come as the next-generation Mahindra XUV 3XO. The new NU_IQ platform is compatible with different powertrains, FWD and AWD capabilities. This architecture will be used to develop SUVs measuring between 3990mm and 4320mm in length.

Mahindra Vision X Design Patented India

The SUV has a sporty, crossover design complemented by an upright stance and high ground clearance. It shares some of its design highlights with the BE 6 Coupe SUV, including the sculpted bonnet, coupe-like rear windscreen and spoiler. The concept had Mahindra’s Twin Peaks logo, which suggests that the production model will belong to XUV family. The lighting elements and fog lamp clusters seem inspired by the Mahindra XEV 9e. The SUV has squared wheel arches, black cladding all-around the body, flush-fitting door handles, and strong creases on the doors.

Mahindra confirms that the new NU_IQ platform is compatible with hybrid powertrain. In fact, the company is reportedly working on a strong hybrid engine using the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. It is expected that the Vision X based compact SUV could feature the new hybrid powertrain. An EV-derivative is also expected to join the lineup. It is expected that the new Mahindra Vision X will be launched in our market in late 2027 or early 2028.
