Maruti Suzuki has four new models lined up for India. The lineup includes hybrid, electric and facelifted models. Most of these cars are expected to arrive by 2027.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing a busy launch schedule for the Indian market. Over the next 12 to 18 months, the company is expected to introduce four new models, ranging from updated versions of its popular cars to an all-new electric MPV.
The upcoming lineup includes the Baleno facelift, Fronx Hybrid, YMC electric MPV and the Y43 compact SUV. These models will help Maruti Suzuki strengthen its premium portfolio while also expanding its hybrid and electric vehicle range.
The Baleno is expected to be the first of the four models to arrive. Spy shots of test cars suggest that Maruti Suzuki is working on a mild design update rather than a complete makeover. The hatchback is likely to get a redesigned front grille, updated bumpers and a few styling changes at the front and rear. The cabin could also receive new features, while the current petrol engine is expected to continue.
The Fronx is also due for an update, but the biggest change is expected under the bonnet. Maruti Suzuki is likely to introduce a series-hybrid system in the Fronx, making it the brand's first model to use this technology. The setup is expected to combine a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, where the petrol engine charges the battery and the electric motor powers the wheels. The hybrid system could deliver fuel efficiency of around 35 km/l, making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its class. Along with the new powertrain, the Fronx is also expected to get updated styling and a few new features.
Maruti Suzuki is also working on a new electric MPV, internally known as YMC. The MPV is expected to feature a practical three-row cabin along with SUV-inspired styling. It is likely to share its electric platform and battery options with the e Vitara. The YMC is expected to offer a claimed driving range of over 500 km and will compete with the Kia Carens Clavis EV when it goes on sale, likely in the first half of 2027.
The fourth model in the pipeline is the Y43, a compact SUV expected to rival the Tata Punch. The Y43 is likely to replace the discontinued Ignis and offer a more rugged design with improved features and safety equipment. It is expected to use Maruti Suzuki's Z12E petrol engine, which also powers the latest Swift.
