Hyundai India will launch the new-gen Venue sub-4 meter SUV by October 2025. The company will also launch a new crossover based on the Hyundai Bayon, which is on sale in select international markets. The Bayon compact SUV will be launched in India in 2026. It will be positioned between the Exter and Venue in Hyundai India line-up.
The Hyundai Bayon is brand’s global model and is based on the same platform as the i20. It will be launched in our market in mid-2026, around June-July. The compact SUV will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which will also receive a mid-life update in 2026.

The Bayon crossover front design looks similar to that of the Hyundai Verna, featuring an LED strip on the bonnet, split headlights, and uniquely styled lower bumper. There is a blacked-out cladding in the front that houses a wide honeycomb-patterned air dam, a silver trim in rectangular shape that houses an air-dam and radar sensors for ADAS.
The side profile has a close resemblance to i20, but it has higher ground clearance, several cuts and creases and sweeping shoulder line that merges nicely with the tail-lights. It has a sloping roofline with black roof rails, a shark-fin antenna and a striking roof spoiler with brake lights. The International-spec model gets 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. In India the crossover could also get 16-inch wheels.
At the back, the Bayon has a blacked-out panel that houses boomerang-shaped tail-lamps connected by an LED strip. The tailgate houses HYUNDAI and BAYON lettering, while the license plate and brake lights are placed on the lower bumper. It also gets dual-tone silver and black treatment for the bumper.
The Hyundai Bayon comes with all-black interior scheme. It shares several features from other Hyundai models including the Verna and Creta. The crossover has four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch infotainment unit, ADAS, 8-speaker Bose sound system and others.
Hyundai is preparing a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will be positioned between the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol and the 1.5L turbo petrol units. This engine is likely to be offered on the Bayon crossover. It will offer greater torque and power than the 1.0L unit, and more mileage than the 1.5L unit. Additionally, the engine will be hybrid-ready.
The compact SUV could also get the 1.2L NA petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engines. In the global markets, the crossover is available with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT unit.
