Plug-in hybrid SUVs are still uncommon in India, and when they do arrive, they usually carry luxury-level prices. That could soon change with the JSW Jetour T2, which is expected to launch in 2026 and may become the most affordable plug-in hybrid SUV in the country.
Until now, PHEV SUVs in India have been limited to expensive luxury brands. This keeps advanced hybrid technology out of reach for most buyers. The Jetour T2 could finally bring plug-in hybrid benefits to a wider audience by offering strong electric range and SUV practicality at a much lower price.
For buyers who want lower fuel bills without fully switching to an EV, this could be a game-changing option.

JSW Group plans to enter the passenger vehicle space through JSW Motors Limited, a new company created specifically for its own car lineup. The Jetour T2 will be the brand’s first SUV and will be based on the Jetour T2 i-DM from Chery.
Instead of launching a regular petrol SUV, JSW is choosing a plug-in hybrid right from the start. This helps the brand stand out and offer something genuinely different in the Indian market.
The JSW Jetour T2 will use a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid system paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. The highlight is its electric-only range of up to 130 km (NEDC).
For many city users, this means daily drives can be done without using petrol at all. Fast charging support also makes ownership easier, adding to its affordability in the long run.
Despite its focus on affordability, the Jetour T2 2026 is a large, rugged-looking SUV with a strong road presence. It will be offered as a 5-seater and promises good cabin space and comfort.
This makes it appealing to buyers who want a proper SUV feel but don’t want to pay luxury-car prices.
The Jetour T2 India price is expected to start at around Rs 45 lakh. If launched at this level, it would undercut every other plug-in hybrid SUV currently available in India.
Local assembly at JSW’s upcoming Maharashtra plant is expected to help keep costs in check, further strengthening its value-for-money appeal.
The Jetour T2 India launch is expected around the festive season of 2026. With its focus on affordability, electric-only driving for daily use and SUV practicality, the JSW Jetour T2 could change how Indian buyers look at plug-in hybrid SUVs.
