Mahindra is getting ready to expand its SUV line-up with a fresh range of models based on its new NU IQ multi-energy platform. Among the concepts revealed earlier this year, the Mahindra Vision S is now the closest to production. The compact SUV has started road testing, and new spy shots reveal key details of its design and features.
Positioned as a baby Scorpio, the Vision S could also take on upcoming lifestyle SUVs, including the new Tata Sierra.

The latest test mule of the Mahindra Vision S compact SUV shows a strong and boxy shape. It gets an upright front, a flat bonnet, and a tough overall stance. The SUV features round headlamps and a vertically stacked grille, giving it a rugged look. LED DRLs are expected to be integrated into the headlamps, similar to the Thar Roxx.
A radar unit is visible on the lower grille, hinting at the presence of ADAS features in the production model.

One of the standout elements of the Vision S is its high ground clearance. This is supported by large wheels, high-profile tyres, and what appears to be a long-travel suspension setup. Mahindra is expected to offer a 5-link rear independent suspension, which should help improve ride comfort on rough roads.
From the side, the SUV gets flared wheel arches, flat door panels, flush door handles, and a flat roof. The large glass area and rectangular rear quarter window should offer good visibility from inside.

At the rear, the Mahindra Vision S gets vertically stacked rectangular tail lamps and a flat rear windscreen. The bumper design looks simple, while the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate adds to its sporty and off-road appeal. Overall, the rear design stays true to the classic SUV look.
Earlier interior spy shots suggest that the Vision S will come with a premium and tech-loaded cabin. A large panoramic sunroof is one of the highlights. The dashboard is expected to feature dual screens, likely 12.3-inch units, along with a modern layout and neatly placed physical buttons.
The SUV also gets a new three-spoke dual-tone steering wheel and a futuristic dashboard design. Soft-touch materials are expected across the cabin, adding to the premium feel.
Mahindra is likely to offer several advanced features with the Vision S. These may include seat heating, hill descent control, traction control, off-road drive modes, and a differential lock system. Higher variants could also get dual-zone climate control.
Another key highlight is the flat-floor design, which is said to be a first for an ICE SUV, helping improve cabin space and comfort.
Mahindra has not yet shared official powertrain details for the Vision S. However, it is expected to launch first with petrol and diesel engines. These could include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. Hybrid and fully electric versions may be introduced at a later stage.
