Tata Motors has confirmed plans to launch the Tata Avinya brand in India in 2026. The Avinya range will sit above Tata’s current electric cars and will focus on premium electric mobility. The first model under this new brand is expected to arrive by the end of 2026.
The Avinya brand will operate separately from Tata and Tata.ev, with its own identity, showrooms, and customer experience.
Unlike Tata’s existing EV range, Tata Avinya EV models will be sold through dedicated showrooms and touchpoints. Tata Motors is planning a fresh retail approach for Avinya, aimed at buyers looking for a more premium experience.
The brand will mainly target customers in tier-1 and tier-2 cities, where demand for high-end electric vehicles is growing steadily.

Tata Motors is exploring a phygital model for the Avinya brand. This means a mix of digital and physical experiences. Buyers may be able to explore cars online, book test drives digitally, and complete purchases at smaller, premium showrooms.
These Avinya showrooms are expected to be smaller than regular Tata dealerships and located in high-end areas, focusing more on experience than volume.
The Avinya brand will be positioned above the upcoming Harrier EV. It will target higher-margin but lower-volume segments, where brands like Skoda, Toyota, Volkswagen, and BYD already operate. Hyundai, Kia, and Honda are also expected to enter this space soon.
Tata’s move into this segment is supported by its global experience, including access to Land Rover and Jaguar technology and design expertise.
The first model from the Avinya range will be the Tata Avinya X, an electric SUV that was showcased in near-production form at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The final production version is expected to stay close to the concept design.
Key design highlights may include a coupe-style SUV shape, pop-out door handles, and wrap-around tail lamps. While Avinya will start as an EV-only brand, there are talks that ICE models could be added later.

The Tata Avinya EV will be based on Tata Motors’ new Gen 3 electric platform. This skateboard-style architecture has been developed only for electric vehicles. It is designed to support long driving range, fast charging, and advanced software features.
This platform will also allow better space usage and improved ride comfort.
The Tata Avinya interior is expected to follow a clean and minimal design theme. The cabin is likely to offer a flat floor, lounge-like seating, and a clutter-free dashboard.
Tata is expected to use sustainable materials and focus more on comfort and space rather than a traditional SUV layout. The aim is to offer a premium and calm driving experience.
The Tata Avinya launch is planned for the end of 2026. While Tata has not shared official pricing details yet, the Tata Avinya price is expected to be positioned above the Harrier EV, placing it firmly in the premium EV segment.
More details on features, range, and pricing are likely to be revealed closer to launch.
Alongside Avinya, Tata Motors plans to launch five new EV nameplates by FY2030. The Sierra EV and the new Punch EV are expected to arrive in early 2026.
With Avinya, Tata Motors is clearly aiming to redefine its electric portfolio and enter a more premium space in India’s fast-growing EV market.
