Mahindra may be preparing another round of updates for the Thar, even after rolling out a refresh in October 2025. Recent spy shots of a partially camouflaged test mule suggest that a Mahindra Thar facelift is still in the works, with more visible design changes expected this time around. While the exact launch timeline is not clear yet, this model is likely to arrive as the Mahindra Thar facelift 2026.

The current-generation Thar received its first major update in October 2025. That update brought small but useful changes such as a body-colour seven-slot grille, a dual-tone front bumper, a rear wiper, and a rear-view camera mounted on the spare wheel.

At the time, many expected the Thar to borrow styling elements from the Thar Roxx, which sits above it. However, those changes did not make it to the 2025 update. The latest spy images now hint that Mahindra may have saved these design upgrades for the upcoming 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift.

The test mule spotted on public roads points to noticeable exterior changes. The Mahindra Thar facelift features are expected to include new LED projector headlights with C-shaped daytime running lights, similar to the Thar Roxx.
The grille also appears to be redesigned, featuring a more modern double-stacked six-slot layout. New diamond-cut alloy wheels are expected as well, and these could be larger 19-inch units, giving the SUV a more premium and aggressive stance.
At the rear, changes are likely to be limited, though a revised LED tail-lamp signature could be introduced.
While the interiors of the test mule were not visible, several feature upgrades are expected with the Mahindra Thar facelift 2026. These updates could make the Thar more comfortable and daily-use friendly.
Expected additions include ventilated front seats, an auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, power-folding ORVMs, keyless entry with push-button start, automatic climate control, and a wireless charging pad. There is also speculation that Mahindra could introduce Level-2 ADAS, which would be a big step forward for safety.
Mechanically, the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to continue with the same engine lineup. This includes the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 152hp, the 1.5-litre diesel with 119hp, and the more powerful 2.2-litre diesel with 132hp.
Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to be offered. Rear-wheel drive variants should continue, while four-wheel drive is expected to remain optional with the petrol engine and standard on the higher diesel variants.
Considering that the 2025 update was introduced only recently, the Mahindra Thar facelift 2026 launch may take place later in 2026 or even slip into 2027. Mahindra appears to be testing the SUV extensively, which suggests that the company is aiming for a more noticeable refresh this time.
