Thar facelift launching on September 22, 2026 Vision S will be first Mahindra to be based on NU_IQ platform
The homegrown SUV maker, Mahindra is preparing three new SUVs scheduled to be launched sequentially by mid-2027. Bridging lifestyle off-roaders, sub-4m mass-market SUV and premium electric vehicles, the upcoming portfolio previews Mahindra’s strategy across ICE and pure-EV segments.
Mahindra will introduce a refreshed-version of the Thar 3-door facelift on September 22, 2026. The new model will be aligned with the 5-door Thar Roxx. It will adopt a double-stacked front grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lamps, updated front and rear bumpers, and new set of alloy wheels. Instead of the older 7-inch unit, the new Thar facelift gets a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a fully digital instrument console, a wireless phone charger, and an updated steering wheel.
The SUV will retain the existing engine options, including a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. It will come with rear-wheel-drive and 4x4 drivetrain options.
Likely to be launched in early 2027, the new Mahindra SUV will be the first model to be based on the upcoming NU_IQ platform. It will be a sub-4 meter compact SUV, and is rumoured to be the smallest member of the Scorpio family. The SUV is designed to compete against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza and Hyundai Venue.
Design highlights will include an incorporates pixel-type LED headlights, thick body cladding, an upright stance, and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. The NU_IQ is a flexible architecture, which support conventional petrol/diesel engines, hybrid setups, and full-electric powertrains. Inside the cabin, the lifestyle SUV gets dual-screen dashboard layout, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, and ventilated front seats.

To be positioned between the BE 6 Sporteq and the flagship XEV 9e, the Mahindra BE 07 will directly rival the Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7. It is likely to be based on Mahindra’s born-electric platform, offering standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variants. It will come with a triple 12.3-inch displays for infotainment, co-occupant entertainment screen and a digital instrument console. The SUV will get panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos audio, and LEVEL 2+ ADAS.
The electric SUV will come with 3 battery choices, including 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh. The SUV will deliver a driving range of around 530 km to 650 km. It will support up to 175 kW DC fast charging capabilities.
