Mahindra Thar 3-door Facelift Launch Likely Next Week: Roxx-Style Design and New Features
Mahindra Thar facelift launch expected by the end of September 2026 To get Thar-Roxx inspired design and interior changes
The Mahindra Thar 3-door will soon receive a mid-life update. While the exact launch date is yet to be revealed, we believe that the Thar 3-door facelift could launch in the last week of September 2026. The lifestyle off-roader will receive design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. The SUV has already been caught testing numerous times, which suggests the SUV could share the design with the Thar Roxx.
Mahindra Thar 3-door Facelift Key Details
We expect the new Thar facelift to get new grille, projector LED headlights with C-shaped daytime running lights, redesigned LED taillights and newly designed alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the lifestyle off-roader is expected to share features with the Thar Roxx. It is likely to get a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a Thar Roxx-like steering wheel, a rear wiper and washer, and a much-needed rear air con vents. Previous reports suggest that the SUV could get powered driver seat and ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
Expected Engine Options
The Thar 3-door facelift will be offered with the same three engine options, including a 152hp, 2.0L turbo petrol, a 119hp, 1.5L diesel and a 132hp, 2.2-litre diesel. The 1.5L diesel engine is available exclusively with a rear-wheel-drive layout, and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine is available with both RWD and four-wheel-drive (4WD) options. The 2.2-litre diesel engine gets 4WD setup as standard. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The existing Thar is based on the old ladder-frame chassis, and fitted with double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear with coil springs. These setup improved its off-road performance, but the ride quality feels bumpy. Mahindra could improve its ride quality by making certain changes to its suspension setup.
