Thar facelift to come in different editions with different front grilles Launch expected by Diwali 2026
Mahindra has recently introduced the Scorpio-N facelift, which comes with modern features and tech. The company is now preparing to give a mid-life update to its popular 3-door Thar. The Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift has been spotted testing multiple times, and the latest test mule reveals the off-roader's completely new front fascia.
While the exact launch timeline is yet to be revealed, we expect the Thar 3-door facelift to arrive this festive season, around October-November 2026. The new model is also likely to command a slight premium over the outgoing model, which is available in the price bracket of Rs 10.3 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom.

The previous spy images suggested that the Thar 3-door facelift will have an all-new front grille inspired by the double-stacked 6-slat unit available on the Thar Roxx. However, the latest sighting reveals that the off-roader will have a different 5-slot grille with a small horizontal trim piece on the right side. This horizontal slat could accommodate the Thar badge.
The different sightings suggest that the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift will be offered in different editions, with different grilles. The spotted model also gets new 5-spoke alloy wheels. It is also expected to get slightly modified wheel arch cladding. The SUV is also expected to get all LED lighting around, including the LED turn indicators. We believe that the off-roader could also get LED tail-lights and a redesigned bumper.
The current Thar comes fitted with a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker sound system, an analogue instrument cluster with MID, powered ORVMs, cruise control and manual AC. The Thar 3-door facelift is likely to get a digital instrument console, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and others.
For safety and security, the SUV gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a reverse camera, parking sensors, etc. The updated model could get six airbags, a 540-degree camera, ADAS tech and front parking sensors.
The facelifted Thar 3-door will retain the existing engine options, including a 119hp, 1.5L diesel, a 132hp, 2.2L diesel and a 152hp, 2.0L direct-injection turbo petrol engine. A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, while the 2.2L diesel and 2.0L petrol will also have a six-speed torque converter automatic option. The higher-spec engines will also have 4x4 drivetrain, while the 1.5L diesel will have rear-wheel-drive setup. Instead of a hydraulic unit, the new Thar is expected to get an electric power steering.
