New Mahindra Thar facelift launching soon Gets updated design and more cabin features Existing petrol and diesel engines likely to continue
Mahindra is getting ready to update the Thar once again. The new Thar facelift is expected to launch later this month and will get changes to its design, features and cabin.
This will be a bigger update than the one the SUV received last year. The basic design and engine options are expected to stay the same, but Mahindra is likely to add several new features.
The Thar facelift will get some changes to its exterior. These are expected to include a new grille, updated bumpers, tweaked headlamps and new alloy wheels.
A recent test version was seen with a five-slot grille, LED headlamps and new five-double-spoke alloy wheels. Some earlier test cars had a six-slot grille, similar to the Thar Roxx, but this could have been used to hide the final design.
Overall, the changes are expected to give the Thar a slightly more modern and premium look without changing its familiar SUV shape.

Mahindra is also expected to add more features to the Thar's cabin. The SUV could get new seat upholstery and trim, along with more comfort and convenience features.
Some of the expected additions include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and passive keyless entry.
These changes should make the Thar more comfortable for daily use and give the cabin a more upmarket feel.
The Thar facelift is not expected to get any major engine changes. It will likely continue with the same petrol and diesel options. The SUV currently gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine that makes 117hp and 300Nm. The larger 2.2-litre diesel produces 130hp and 300Nm, while the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 150hp and 300Nm.
The 1.5-litre diesel is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol are available with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The Thar's four-wheel-drive system is also expected to continue with the facelift. It is currently offered with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines. So, while the new model will get more features and a few design changes, Mahindra is not expected to move away from the off-road character that has made the Thar popular.
The new Mahindra Thar facelift is expected to launch later this month. More details, including the final features and prices, are likely to be revealed closer to the launch.
