Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG - 5 Things That Make This CNG SUV Stand Out

Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG delivers 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque in both petrol and CNG modes. Its twin-cylinder CNG setup helps preserve 270 litres of usable boot space. Offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg and premium features across select variants.

Mahindra has introduced the XUV 3XO ZNG in India, adding a factory-fitted CNG option to its popular compact SUV. Prices start at Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 12.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG stands out with its turbo-petrol engine, twin-cylinder CNG system and a feature-rich cabin. It also aims to address two common concerns among CNG car buyers: reduced performance and limited luggage space.

Here are five key highlights that make the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG different from many other CNG cars in the market.

1. Same Power and Torque in Petrol and CNG Modes

One of the biggest highlights of the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is its engine performance. The SUV uses a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a factory-fitted CNG system and a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine produces 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque in both petrol and CNG modes, according to the supplied specifications. This means the stated power and torque figures remain unchanged when switching between the two fuels. Many CNG cars use naturally aspirated petrol engines and offer lower performance than their petrol counterparts. The XUV 3XO ZNG combines CNG technology with a turbocharged engine, making it a notable option for buyers who want the benefits of CNG without giving up turbo-petrol performance figures.

2. Twin-Cylinder Setup Preserves Boot Space

Limited boot space is a common concern with CNG cars, as the cylinder often takes up a large portion of the luggage area. Mahindra has addressed this issue with a twin-cylinder CNG layout in the XUV 3XO ZNG. The cylinders are positioned beneath the boot floor, helping the SUV retain 270 litres of usable luggage space. The spare wheel is mounted underneath the vehicle. This layout makes the boot more practical for everyday shopping and carrying luggage on weekend trips. However, the available space may still depend on the shape and size of the items being carried.

3. Premium Features Across Select Variants

Another highlight of the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is its feature list. Unlike some CNG models that are limited to entry-level trims, the SUV offers the CNG option across four variants, including versions with additional comfort and technology features. Depending on the variant, buyers can get a panoramic sunroof, twin 10.25-inch screens, AdrenoX connected-car technology and Amazon Alexa integration. The higher variants also offer a premium Dolby Atmos-powered audio system. These features give buyers more options when choosing a CNG SUV based on their budget and requirements.

4. Gas-Leak Detection System Adds Safety

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG comes with safety features such as six airbags, electronic stability control and four-wheel disc brakes, according to the supplied information. It also features an integrated gas-leak detection system. If the system detects a CNG leak, it is designed to shut off the gas supply and switch the engine to petrol mode while alerting the driver. This feature adds another layer of protection for occupants. As with any CNG vehicle, regular servicing and inspection of the fuel system remain important for safe operation.

5. Claimed Mileage of 24.7 km/kg

Fuel efficiency is one of the main reasons buyers consider CNG vehicles. Mahindra claims that the XUV 3XO ZNG delivers a mileage of 24.7 km/kg in CNG mode. The actual mileage may vary depending on traffic conditions, driving style, passenger load and road conditions. Even so, the claimed figure makes fuel efficiency an important part of the SUV's appeal for people who drive regularly. The availability of petrol and CNG modes also gives owners the flexibility to switch fuels according to their needs.

Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG - Price and Variants

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is available in four variants. The MX Edge is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, while the RevX Edge (O) costs Rs 10.79 lakh. The AX5 is priced at Rs 11.19 lakh, and the top-spec RevX A costs Rs 12.27 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. All four variants come with a six-speed manual gearbox and a factory-fitted CNG system. The choice of variant depends on the features buyers want and how much they are willing to spend.
