Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to make a strong mark in the midsize SUV segment with the upcoming Maruti Escudo. Aimed at challenging rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the Escudo will be positioned as a flagship Arena SUV offering aggressive pricing and advanced features. The official launch is scheduled for September 3, 2025, when the company will reveal the prices, specifications, and variant details.
The upcoming Maruti Escudo is expected to start at around Rs 9-10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base model, with top-end hybrid variants likely priced between Rs 18-19 lakh. This pricing positions the Escudo car as a competitive offering against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, while remaining a step below the NEXA Grand Vitara in Maruti’s SUV lineup.
The Maruti Escudo is expected to come with a range of advanced features. Buyers can expect multiple variants with petrol, hybrid, and CNG powertrains. Top variants may offer Level 2 ADAS, 4WD, and other premium features, making it one of the most feature-rich offerings in its segment. Notably, the CNG option will feature an underbody kit, ensuring boot space is not compromised.
The Maruti Escudo is expected to be a flagship SUV under the Maruti Suzuki Arena network, positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Unlike the Grand Vitara, which is sold via NEXA dealerships, the Escudo will be more accessible to the masses through over 3,000 Arena dealerships across India. The SUV is designed to help Maruti recapture a significant share of the midsize SUV market.
Maruti Suzuki Escudo will borrow engines from the Grand Vitara, offering three powertrain options:
Petrol: 1.5L K15C petrol engine with 103 bhp
Hybrid Petrol: 92 bhp, 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine paired with an electric motor (combined 115 bhp), mated to an e-CVT automatic
CNG: First Maruti car in India to feature an underbody CNG kit
The hybrid version is expected to deliver excellent fuel efficiency, similar to the Grand Vitara, which offers 27.97 kmpl.
The upcoming Maruti Escudo will likely offer a range of variants from a base model to a fully-loaded version with features like advanced safety systems, Level 2 ADAS, and optional 4WD. Buyers can choose between petrol, hybrid, and CNG options depending on their budget and requirements.
