The two Japanese automakers, Maruti Suzuki and Honda are planning to introduce a wide range of new SUVs in the country before the end of this decade. In a bid to regain 50 percent market share, MSIL has announced to launch 8 all-new SUVs in the country. On the other hand, Honda is finally getting aggressive with its product strategy for India. The company has announced to launch 10 new cars, including 7 new SUVs in the country by 2030.

The Japanese automaker will adopt multi-powertrain strategy, and will introduce SUVs with electric, hybrid, ICE, CNG and flex-fuel engines. Suzuki officials claim that the company is aiming to become the biggest seller of electric cars in India.
Suzuki has announced to invest $8 billion in India. The company is planning to expand its annual production capacity in India to 4 million units from some 2.5 million. MSIL is preparing a micro SUV to rival the lies of the Tata Punch and Hyundai Exter. Moreover, MSIL is planning to enter premium SUV category. The company could launch new SUVs above 4.5 meters in length, including an all-new 7-seater model to rival Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.
Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed that the long-awaited e Vitara electric SUV will go on sale in December 2025. This SUV will rival the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric. MSIL will launch 4 new EVs, including the e Vitara by 2030. Adding to it, the company is developing the next-gen Brezza, Fronx facelift with a hybrid powertrain and the Grand Vitara facelift.

On the sidelines of the Japan Mobility Show, Honda has announced to launch 10 new cars, including 7 SUVs in the country by 2030. The company has also revealed the 0 Alpha electric SUV concept at the auto event. The SUV will be launched in our market in 2027.
Honda has also started that its major focus will be on sub-4 meter products. A new sub-4 meter Honda SUV is also under development, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2027-28. Honda will also bring some of its global cars as CBUs or CKDs in India. The Honda 0 Series SUV will also come to our market in 2026-27 as a completely imported model.
The Japanese brand is also likely to introduce its first hybrid SUV in India in 2026. This could be the Elevate hybrid, which is likely to use the upgraded version of Honda’s 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine with e:HEV tech. Honda could bring back the CR-V nameplate.
The company is working on an all-new PF2 modular platform, which will underpin an all-new 7-seater SUV. In fact, the sub-4 meter SUV will also be based on the same architecture. This platform will be compatible with ICE, hybrid and electric powertrains.
