Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a brand-new compact SUV on September 3, 2025. The model was earlier rumoured to be called the Escudo, but fresh reports suggest it may debut as the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. To add to the suspense, the company has already filed patents for both names in India, leaving enthusiasts guessing which one will finally make it to showrooms.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris will be positioned between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. Unlike the Grand Vitara which is sold via Nexa dealerships, the new Victoris will be retailed through Arena outlets, making it part of Maruti’s new compact SUVs strategy. Built on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the SUV will combine affordability with premium features, offering a strong option for buyers in the compact SUV space.
Spy images have revealed that the Maruti Victoris will be slightly larger than the Grand Vitara, putting it in the same size bracket as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It is expected to get:
- Upright bonnet and sleek LED headlights
- Slim body cladding with a sporty rear design
- Modern dashboard with a floating touchscreen
- Fully digital driver’s display and panoramic sunroof
- Features like ventilated front seats, auto AC, wireless charging
- Safety kit with 6 airbags, 360-degree camera and ADAS features
Maruti Victoris previously assumed Escudo is expected to share its engines with the Grand Vitara. It may come with a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine producing 103 PS, a 1.5-litre strong-hybrid engine with a combined output of 116 PS, and a 1.5-litre petrol-CNG option delivering 88 PS. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic and an e-CVT depending on the variant. The CNG version is likely to use Maruti’s practical dual-cylinder layout, which helps free up more boot space.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris (Escudo) is expected to be priced slightly lower than the Grand Vitara, which currently retails between Rs 11.42 lakh and Rs 20.68 lakh (ex-showroom). This means the Victoris will directly rival popular models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other compact SUVs in the same segment.
With its modern design, premium features and multiple engine options, it is set to become one of the most awaited launches from Maruti this year.
