Maruti Suzuki has started production of the Suzuki e-Vitara in Gujarat, but its market launch has been pushed back again due to a shortage of key components. While EV fans will have to wait a little longer, Maruti is not slowing down. The brand has confirmed the Maruti Escudo - a new mid-size SUV to launch on September 3, 2025, just in time for the festive season.
The upcoming SUV, rumoured to be called either Maruti Escudo or Victoris, will be sold exclusively through Maruti’s ARENA dealership network.
Here are the top details revealed about the upcoming Maruti Escudo 2025:
Maruti Escudo 2025 or Victoris is expected to sit between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara, with an estimated price ranging from Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 18.5 lakh, ex-showroom. Positioned as an affordable alternative to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Honda Elevate, this Escudo car will reach customers through Maruti’s extensive ARENA network, making it accessible to a wide audience.

The first Escudo teaser shows sharply designed LED taillights with a 3D lighting effect, including a central brake lamp and turn indicators. This modern design hints at a premium styling approach for the SUV, which could be marketed as Victoris in some regions, creating excitement among enthusiasts of upcoming SUVs in India.
The Maruti Escudo or Victoris will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, shared with the Grand Vitara. Engine options are expected to include:
1.5L petrol with 103bhp and mild-hybrid tech
1.5L Atkinson cycle strong hybrid with 116bhp
1.5L petrol with 88bhp and CNG kit
Higher trims may also get an AWD drivetrain, making it versatile for city and off-road driving.
Maruti Escudo 2025 or Victoris will introduce several firsts for Maruti, including:
- LEVEL 2 ADAS with emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and auto high beam
- Dolby Atmos sound system
- Powered tailgate
- 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
- Wireless phone charger, automatic AC, and ambient lighting
- Panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and multiple airbags
- Underbody CNG tank for full-size boot
With competitive pricing, advanced features, and a festive season launch, the Maruti Escudo or Victoris will compete directly with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Maruti Grand Vitara. It will attract more buyers who want a mid-size SUV without opting for premium Nexa models.
The Maruti Escudo 2025 or Victoris offers different engine options, modern features, and wide availability through ARENA dealerships. Its September 3, 2025, launch aims to attract buyers looking for style, technology, and value in one SUV.
