Tata Sierra 2025 launch confirmed for this festive season EV with up to 500 km range and ICE engines, including turbo-petrol Premium features with a triple-screen dashboard and ADAS
The upcoming Tata Sierra 2025 isn’t just another SUV; it’s designed to be a lifestyle statement. Once a popular SUV in the 1990s, it will now return in a brand-new design with both electric and petrol-diesel options. The new Sierra will offer modern features, powerful engines, and stylish looks to compete with SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Tata Sierra EV launch date has been set for the festive season of 2025, most likely around Diwali. The Tata Sierra ICE launch will follow in the first quarter of 2026. This dual launch strategy allows Tata to attract both EV enthusiasts and traditional petrol-diesel buyers.

The upcoming Tata Sierra EV will be based on the Acti.ev Gen 2 platform, the same as the Punch EV and Curvv EV. It is expected to offer two battery choices - 65kWh and 75kWh, with a realistic driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge. While the SUV will primarily be a front-wheel-drive model, Tata could also offer a dual-motor AWD/QWD setup in higher trims.
Tata Sierra ICE launch in 2026 will mark the debut of two new 1.5-litre petrol engines - a naturally aspirated unit for entry trims and a turbo-petrol producing up to 170 hp. A 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, already seen in the Harrier and Safari, will also be offered. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
To make the SUV accessible, Tata Motors will also offer a Tata Sierra 2025 basic variant. This Tata Sierra entry-level trim will focus on affordability while retaining essential features, ensuring the SUV appeals to a wider audience.
The new Sierra will measure around 4.3-4.4 metres, giving it a strong road presence. Highlights include a flat nose, rugged bumper, boxy silhouette, and modern LED lighting. Inside, the Sierra will debut Tata’s first triple-screen dashboard with a driver display, central infotainment, and a passenger-side screen. Other features include:
- Panoramic sunroof
- JBL sound system with Dolby Atmos
- Ventilated and powered front seats
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- Level-2 ADAS and 360-degree camera
Tata Sierra 2025 EV will directly compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE 6, and BYD Atto 3. With its mix of nostalgia, modern design, and advanced features, the Sierra EV aims to be a lifestyle SUV that stands out in the crowded midsize SUV space.
Tata Motors will introduce multiple trims, ranging from the affordable Tata Sierra entry-level trim to premium variants. A 4-seater lounge version with added luxury is also expected.
By offering both EV and ICE versions, along with a Tata Sierra 2025 basic variant for budget buyers, Tata Motors is covering all segments of the market. If priced competitively, the Sierra could emerge as a strong rival to Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and upcoming electric SUVs.
