The ‘Creta’ nameplate is responsible for popularising the compact SUV segment in India. It is the whole package of sporty exterior and feature-loaded interior that makes the four-wheeler an irresistible buy. Interestingly, the latest January update came at a time when the compact SUV segment was dominated by the likes of Skoda Kushaq and Tata Nexon but that did not hamper the sales of the Creta. Buyers were willing to stick to the Korean brand despite the delay. Let us now discuss the car in greater detail.
Hyundai’s design language has been experimental throughout the years and some may say that the first generation Creta looked the best and the second generation worst. The brand made sure to choose a middle ground with the latest Creta to give it a simplistic yet modern look. The LEDs have been redesigned and are connected. The bumper has also been remade and a faux skid plate is added.
Side profile with the black cladding and chrome door handles looks reminiscent of the previous model, retaining the boxy look. If the panoramic sunroof is on your bucket list, the Creta gets it. And at the back, the connected LED theme is continued. The rear bumper has been refreshed and gets a bash plate which also houses the reverse light. Alloys get subtle changes as well. With this set of upgrades, it does look contemporary and follows the new design philosophy of the brand.

Like on the outside, the interior has received major attention to detail and has been tastefully digitalised. You now get to choose between an all-black or dual-tone (black and greige colour) dashboard theme complemented by red accents and silver inserts. Apart from that, the touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster measure 10.25 inches each. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also available.
Rear seats split and fold in 60:40 format for extended storage space, especially during trips. Other features include a cooled glovebox, eight-way adjustable seats, an air purifier, an electric parking brake, hill hold assist, cruise control and idle stop-and-go technology.
With its 2024 update, the Creta got Level 2 ADAS with features such as forward collision, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assist and lane departure assist. Six airbags have been made standard right from the base variant. All wheels get disc brakes.
Crucial safety features like ABS, EBD, ESC, rear parking camera and sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system also come with the SUV.

Creta is one of the few SUVs that gets both petrol and diesel options with a host of transmissions. The naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol Creta belts out 113 horsepower and 144 Nm, while the 1.5 diesel puts out 114 hp and 250 Nm. There is also a 1.5-litre turbo petrol mill which is the most powerful with figures of 158 bhp and 253 Nm. Mileage from these engines lies in the range of 17-21 kmpl based on the variant. Gearbox options include manual, automatic and dual-clutch.
At 4.3 metres long and 1.7 metres wide, the Creta boasts a spacious cabin that can accommodate five people comfortably. Its generous interior shines when it comes to long trips. Hyundai has fine-tuned the suspension of the Creta for a comfortable ride and bumps get absorbed easily, even the harshest ones. Then, if you need more space at the back for more luggage, you have the option to split the seat.
Like its demand in the new car segment, Creta remains in huge demand in the second-hand car market, making it an attractive choice for buyers. What also helps is the popularity and trust that is attached to Hyundai. This is a challenging achievement and the brand has been heavily investing over the years in research and development to fill any lapses that there might be.
With a pan-India service network, buyers can get their cars serviced with OEM parts. If you were to buy a Creta and sell it after four to five years, expect a depreciation of 30-35%, which is nominal.

Because of its stylish looks, feature-packed interior and punchy performance, the Creta is one of the most popular compact SUVs and is a great buy. Depending on your daily run and requirements, you can choose between a petrol and a diesel Creta.
