Bentley Torcal EV India Launch Expected by Mid-2027

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, its first all-electric SUV, marking a major step in the brand’s move towards electric vehicles. The new luxury SUV is expected to arrive in India by mid-2027. The Torcal is the fourth model in Bentley’s current line-up and combines the brand’s traditional luxury with a new electric powertrain. Despite moving away from the company’s familiar V8 engines, the SUV offers strong performance, with the more powerful Torcal S capable of accelerating from 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds.

Bentley Torcal Gets New Design

The Torcal has been designed and engineered in Crewe and introduces a new design direction for Bentley. At the front, the SUV gets a long bonnet, short overhangs and a prominent nose. The rear has muscular haunches and a tapering roofline. The illuminated diamond-pattern grille and new lighting elements give the Torcal a more modern appearance. However, the SUV still retains several familiar Bentley design elements.

Luxury Interior With New Technology

The cabin follows a similar approach, combining Bentley’s traditional materials with modern technology. The dashboard continues with the brand’s wing-inspired design. Leather, wool, wood veneer and aluminium are used throughout the cabin. The front seats get 16-way adjustment along with heating, ventilation, adjustable bolsters and massage functions. At the rear, the SUV gets a three-seat bench with power-fold functionality.

Bentley Torcal Power and Range

The Torcal uses two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors and an 800V electrical architecture. It gets a 113kWh net battery pack and produces up to 885bhp and 1,350Nm. The Torcal S can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 2.9 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 260kmph. Bentley claims a WLTP range of up to 600km. The electric SUV supports charging at up to 400kW. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in around 16 minutes using a compatible charger. A seven-minute charge can add up to 161km of range.

Active Suspension and Rear-Wheel Steering

The Torcal also gets several chassis technologies aimed at improving its ride and handling. It is the first Bentley to feature fully active suspension. The SUV also gets adaptive two-valve dampers and rear-wheel steering as standard. The rear wheels can turn by up to five degrees, helping reduce the turning circle to 11.1 metres. This should make the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in tight spaces.

Plenty of Driver Assistance Tech

Bentley has equipped the Torcal with a long list of driver assistance features. The SUV uses 25 radars, sensors and cameras for its ADAS systems. These include automated reversing, towing and parking assistance, remote parking and a system that can learn specific parking manoeuvres. The four doors can also be opened and closed electrically, adding to the SUV’s luxury experience.

New Sound for the Electric Bentley

Bentley has also developed a dedicated sound for the Torcal. Instead of trying to reproduce the sound of a petrol engine, the company has created what it calls Dynamic Symphony. The system uses real instruments, including drums, viola and bass guitar. The sound has been inspired by the rhythm of Bentley’s V8 engines.

Bentley Torcal India Launch

The Bentley Torcal EV India launch is expected by mid-2027. The company has not announced the India price yet. Once launched, the Torcal will become Bentley’s first electric SUV in India. It will combine a claimed 600km range with high-performance figures and a long list of luxury and driver assistance features. More details about the India-spec model and its pricing are expected closer to its launch.
