Car manufacturers in India have started releasing their sales numbers for the month of September 2025. Most of the brands have posted positive sales growth, thanks to the massive rates cut under GST 2.0. Post GST rate cuts, ICE vehicles demand are on rise while EVs posted a decline in September after two records month. We bring you a detailed brand-wise sales report for the month of September 2025.
Maruti Suzuki has sold a total of 1.89 lakh vehicles (Domestic + Exports + OEM supply) in the month of September 2025 as against 1.84 lakh units in the same month last year. The company’s total sales increased by 2.7 per cent.
MSIL exported 42,204 units last month as compared to 27,728 units in September 2024, reporting a massive YoY exports growth of 52 percent. However, its domestic sales declined by 6.3 percent. Th company dispatched 1.47 lakh vehicles in September 2025 as against 1.57 lakh units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors becomes the second largest car manufacturer in the month of September 2025. In the passenger vehicle segment, Tata Motors sold a total of 60,907 cars last month and reports a massive year-on-year sales growth of 47 percent. In the domestic market, Tata Motors dispatched 59,667 vehicles in September 2025 and reported a substantial YoY sales growth of 45 percent. The brand’s total EV sales up by 96 percent. The company sold a total of 9191 electric vehicles in the month of September 2025.
Mahindra has reported a year-on-year sales growth of 10 per cent in the month of September 2025. The company sold a total of 56,233 units in the domestic market as against 51,062 units in the same month last year.
The company has exported 4,320 vehicles in September 2025 as against 3,020 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY export growth of 43 per cent.
Commenting on the sales, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said, “Thanks to the impetus from GST 2.0 and the preceding week’s pent-up demand, we have seen robust growth in dealer reported customer retails during the first nine days of Navratri, with over 60 per cent growth in the SUV segment and over 70 per cent growth in the CV segment compared to the first nine days of Navratri last year”.

Hyundai Motor India has reported a total monthly sales pf 70,347 vehicles in September 2025, reporting a YoY sales growth of 10 per cent. In the same month last year, the company sold a total of 64,201 vehicles.
In the domestic market, the company dispatched 51,547 vehicles last month as against 51,101 units in the September 2024. The company has exported 18,800 units, which is significantly higher. In the same month last year, Hyundai exported 13,100 units.
The Hyundai has sold over 18,861 units of the Creta in September 2025, which is also the highest for the SUV since its arrival in our market. Moreover, the Hyundai Venue reported a 20 month high sales volume of 11,484 units in September.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has posted a total sales of 31,091 vehicles in the month of September 2025 as against 26,847 units in the same month last year. The company reported a YoY sales growth of 16 percent.
The company dispatched 27,089 vehicles to dealerships last month, and 4,002 cars were shipped to export markets. In the first six months of current Financial Year, Toyota sold a total of 1,84,959 vehicles as against 1,62,623 vehicles in the same period, reporting a growth of 14 percent.

JSW MG Motor India reported a total sales of 6,728 vehicles in the month of September 2025 as against a total of 5,021 units in the same month last year. The company has reported a YoY sales growth of 34 percent.
MG said that the growth was supported by the recent GST reduction and the onset of the Navratri festive season. The recent GST reduction has allowed JSW MG Motor India to reduce prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 3.5 lakh across its ICE range. The company has also become the second largest brand in the Luxury EV segment through its luxury retail channel MG SELECT (VAHAN).
According to the Vahan Data, Tata Motors becomes the second largest car maker in September 2025 retail sales. The company delivered 40,594 cars in the month of September 2025, while Mahindra is at third position with 37,015 SUVs delivered to customers. Meanwhile, Hyundai slips to fourth position with 35,443 vehicles retailed in September 2025.
