JSW to launch Jetour T2 PHEV in second half of 2026 New Chery ICar V23 based electric SUV arriving in 2027
It is no secret that JSW Motors Limited has the ambition of being a carmaker in its own right in the Indian market. The company is currently in a joint venture with MG, called the JSW MG Motor India. JSW Motors has already finalised its upcoming Greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, which will initially utilise for local assembly of cars. The homegrown automaker has joined hands with Chery, the Chinese SUV maker, to launch new SUVs in the Indian market.
In fact, JSW Motors has started testing couple of Chery SUVs on the Indian roads. The company will first launch the Jetour T2 Plug-in hybrid SUV, followed by a pure electric SUV in the country. This suggests that the homegrown brand will look at hybrids and EVs to start its independent innings in the passenger vehicle segment.

JSW has started testing the Chery ICar V23 electric SUV on the Indian roads. The Chinese-spec model measures 4220mm in length, 1915mm in width and 1,845mm in height, and rides on 2735mm long wheelbase. The SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm, which is aided by an approach and departure angles of 43 degrees and 41 degrees, respectively.
It is packed with a 59.93kWh battery pack with a rear-wheel-drive and a larger 81.76kWh battery with all-wheel-drive configurations. The RWD version delivers 136hp and 180Nm, while the AWD setup rated at 211hp and 292Nm. The lower-spec model offers a CLTC range of 401km, while the dual-motor AWD version offers a claimed range of 510km on a single charge. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 7.5 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 140kmph.
In terms of features, the lifestyle SUV gets a 15.4-inch touchscreen, 7-speaker sound system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, three USB ports, multiple drive modes and a PM2.5 air filter.
