The much-anticipated Maruti Suzuki Victoris (Escudo) midsize SUV will finally go on sale in India on 3rd September, 2025. It will be sold through ARENA dealership network and will act as the flagship SUV model in the ARENA line-up. The new Maruti Victoris (Escudo) will be the brand’s first car to feature advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite.
It was speculated that the new Victoris (Escudo) will sit between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, in terms of pricing and positioning. However, reports suggest that the Escudo set to be the most feature-loaded Maruti Suzuki car in India. It will be equipped with LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, auto high beam and others.
Another big update is that the new Maruti Suzuki Escudo will come with Dolby Atmos Audio Technology, which is associated with high-end cars. This feature has recently been offered with the Tata Harrier EV, Mahindra XEV 9e, Thar Roxx and BE 6. The new Escudo is also likely to get a powered tailgate.
The new Maruti Victoris (Escudo) will be equipped with a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, a fully digital instrument cluster, HUD (Head-Up Display), leatherette seats, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats. For safety and security, the Escudo will have multiple airbags. 360-degree surround view camera, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESP with hill hold, etc.
The new Escudo will be based on the Suzuki’s Global-C platform that also underpins the Grand Vitara and Brezza. The new SUV will be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, which is 4,345mm in length. It is expected to measure around 4.4-4.5 meters in length and will offer a bigger boot compared to Grand Vitara’s 373-litres luggage compartment.
The new Maruti Suzuki Escudo is likely to be offered with the same set of engines that powers the Grand Vitara. It will get a 1.5-litre K15C petrol engine with a mild hybrid tech with manual and automatic gearbox choices. The SUV will also have a CNG variant with a manual gearbox option. It is reportedly to be offered with 4WD (four-wheel-drive) configuration, while the Grand Vitara gets an AWD setup. The hybrid version will get the same 1.5L TNGA engine that powers the Grand Vitara and Hyryder.
