Maruti Escudo to launch on September 3, 2025 It will be sold exclusively through ARENA dealership network Hybrid, petrol and CNG powertrains will be on offer First Maruti to get LEVEL 2 ADAS and powered tailgate The Escudo could get an underbody CNG tank
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch an all-new 5-seater midsize SUV, rumoured to be called Maruti Victoris (Escudo), on September 3, 2025. This midsize SUV will be the brand’s new SUV to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the category. Here are top 10 things you should know about the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Escudo midsize SUV
The much-awaited Maruti Suzuki Escudo will be launched in the country on September 3, 2025. It will be sold alongside the Brezza and the Grand Vitara midsize SUV.
The Escudo SUV will be exclusively sold through ARENA dealership network. It will be the new flagship SUV from ARENA network, which has over 3,000 dealerships across cities in India.
The new Maruti Escudo will be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, in terms of pricing. It will target customers looking to buy a new midsize SUV and not looking at Creta, Seltos or even NEXA-only Grand Vitara. We expect the new Maruti Suzuki Escudo to price somewhere around Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. The Escudo will come as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
The new Maruti Escudo will come with 3 engine choices, including Petrol, CNG and Hybrid. It will be based on the Suzuki’s Global-C architecture that also underpins the Grand Vitara and Brezza.
The SUV will come with Toyota’s 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, 12-valve, DOHC with strong hybrid engine. Paired to an e-CVT, the combined power and torque output stands at 116hp and 141Nm, respectively. The hybrid system comprise of a 1.5L petrol engine, an electric motor placed on the front axle and a small lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motor adds another 79bhp and 141Nm of torque. The Grand Vitara hybrid is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 27.97kmpl, and the same is expected with the Escudo hybrid.
The new Maruti Escudo will be equipped with the tried and tested 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. This engine is capable of producing 102bhp and 138Nm of torque. The automatic version will also come with an AWD (all-wheel-drive) drivetrain.
The Escudo could be the first Maruti Suzuki model to feature an underbody CNG tank. This technology will allow MSIL engineers to free up more space in the boot and in the second-row. In the CNG mode, the powertrain produces 87bhp and 121.5Nm of torque.
The new Escudo was earlier planned to be a 7-seater SUV; however, shift in market dynamics changed Maruti’s plan. It will be a 5-seater midsize SUV, which is expected to be longer than the Grand Vitara. The length is expected to be increased by around 100mm, making it one of the longest SUVs in its category. The increase in length will allow Maruti to offer space in the second row and event in the boot.
The new Escudo is likely to be the first Maruti Suzuki model to get a LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. This will add a new layer of safety by offering features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, auto high-beam, lane assist and others. Adding to it, the SUV could also get front and rear parking sensors.
The new Escudo midsize SUV is also expected to receive powered tailgate and Dolby ATMOS audio technology for an immersive sound experience.
Key features could include dual digital screens for infotainment and driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat and others.
