In a bid to regain 50% market share, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to launch a wide range of new SUVs and mass-market cars. The company has recently launched the Victoris mid-sized SUV, which will be exclusively sold through ARENA dealership network. To make it a huge success, MSIL has priced the Victoris very aggressively in the market.
The lowering GST rates further helped MSIL to achieve competitive pricing for its new mid-sized SUV. The base variant of the Maruti Victoris is available at a starting price of Rs 10.5 lakh. In fact, the base variant is decently equipped with comfort, convenience and safety features. A number of factors are in its favor, positioning it as a serious contender against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and other rivals.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris carries an aggressive price tag of Rs 10.5 lakh for the base variant, while the top-spec model costs Rs 19.99 lakh, ex-showroom. Even the Victoris CNG prices start at Rs 11.50 lakh and ends at Rs 14.57 lakh, offering great value for money proposition.
The strong hybrid model is available in the price bracket of Rs 16.38 lakh and extends up to Rs 19.99 lakh. Its automatic range starts at Rs 13.36 lakh and extends up to Rs 17.77 lakh, making it one of the most affordable in its category.
For reference, its direct rival, the Hyundai Creta is available is priced between Rs 11.11 lakh and Rs 20.92 lakh. The Kia Seltos is available in the price bracket of Rs 11.19 lakh to Rs 20.56 lakh.
The Maruti Victoris is available with multiple engine-gearbox choices, including petrol manual, petrol automatic, CNG manual, and strong hybrid with eCVT. This gives customers enough options to suit their needs.
The Victoris is available in 6 trim levels - LXi, VXi, ZXi, ZXi (O), ZXi+ and ZXi+ (O) - and in total of 21 variants. The CNG version is available with LXi, VXi and ZXi trims, while the strong hybrid range starts from VXi trim. In fact, the AWD version is available in the top two trims.
The Victoris is available with two engine options - a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol with a mild-hybrid and a 1.5L TNGA strong hybrid unit. The NA petrol version also gets a CNG option.
- The 1.5L NA engine produces 102bhp and 139Nm, and is paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The automatic version also gets an AWD system.
- In the CNG mode, the power and torque drops to 87bhp and 121.5Nm, respectively. While running in petrol mode, the engine produces 100bhp and 137.1Nm.
- The strong hybrid version gets a 1.5L, 3-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a 177.6V lithium-ion battery and an AC synchronous motor, and is paired to an e-CVT. The petrol engine produces 92bhp and 122Nm. The electric motor is rated at 80hp and adds another 141Nm. It comes with 3 drive modes - Eco, Normal and Power.

The new Victoris is the most fuel efficient SUV in its category. The regular petrol manual and automatic versions claim to offer 21.18kmpl and 21.06kmpl, respectively. Even the AWD version delivers a certified fuel economy of 19.07kmpl.
The Maruti Victoris CNG version is claimed to offer 27.02 km/kg, while the strong hybrid unit delivers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 28.65kmpl.
The Victoris comes with several segment-leading features, such as LEVEL-2 ADAS tech, Powered tailgate with gesture control, 64 color custom ambient lighting, 8-way powered driver’s seat and others. However, most of these are offered on the top-spec variants.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris base variant is also decently equipped with several comfort and convenience features. It comes with LED rear combination lamp with LED indicator, ORVMs with turn indicators, LED high mount stop lamp, 4.2-inch TFT display, 60:40 split folding rear seats, adjustable headrests, Type A USB charger, Push start with smart key, automatic AC and rear AC vents.
Other key features in base variant includes front sliding armrest, rear centre armrest with cup holder, adjustable tilt & telescopic power steering and keyless entry.
For safety and security, the base variant gets Electronic stability program, traction control system, engine drag control, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD & brake assist, rear parking sensors, 6 airbags, all seat belts with reminders, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, engine immobiliser and tyre repair kit.
Maruti Suzuki cars are associated with poor safety, but this has recently been changed massively. After Dzire, the Victoris becomes the second Maruti car to receive full 5-star safety rating in BNCAP and GNCAP crash tests.
The Maruti Victoris will be retailed through the extensive ARENA network, which has over 3,000 dealerships across the country. This massive network gives it a significant advantage over competitors in sales and after-sales service.
