Volkswagen has dropped a new teaser hinting at its next SUV for the Indian market. The teaser simply says “Coming Soon” and shows a large SUV covered under a white sheet. However, the LED headlights and DRL light signatures at both ends are clearly visible.
From the overall shape and size, this SUV looks like a premium three-row model and is widely expected to be the Volkswagen Tayron.

Over the last few months, the Tayron has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads. In some sightings, the SUV was seen without camouflage and even carried Tayron badging.
This strongly suggests that Volkswagen may bring the Tayron nameplate to India, instead of using the older Tiguan Allspace badge. Globally, the Tayron sits above the regular Tiguan and replaces the Tiguan Allspace.
One of the key highlights in the teaser is the full-width LED lighting at the front and rear. The rear light bar and tail-lamp design look different from the India-spec Tiguan R Line, confirming this is a more distinct model.
The long silhouette also hints at a longer wheelbase, which supports the Tayron’s three-row seating layout.
Internationally, the Volkswagen Tayron is positioned as a more spacious family SUV. It offers a usable third row and a larger boot compared to the Tiguan.
With all three rows in place, boot space is around 345 litres, which can be expanded by folding the third row, making it more practical for long trips.
Earlier test mules in India were spotted with R Line badges and sporty alloy wheels. This indicates that Volkswagen could launch the Tayron in a sportier R Line trim for India, similar to the Tiguan R Line currently on sale.
Inside, the cabin is expected to borrow heavily from the Tiguan, offering a digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen, and premium features, along with added space.
The Volkswagen Tayron for India is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This motor produces around 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque and is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. An all-wheel-drive system is also likely to be part of the package.
Volkswagen is expected to locally assemble the Tayron in India, possibly at its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar facility, just like the Skoda Kodiaq.
With this teaser, Volkswagen has confirmed its plans to return to the premium three-row SUV space in India. More information on variants, pricing, and the launch timeline is expected to be announced soon.
