Codenamed K1, the new EV will be the new flagship model of the brand’s SUV line-up and will be positioned above the Cayenne and Macan models.
The new Flagship electric SUV concept will ride on Volkswagen Group’s SSP Platform (Scalable System Platform). The new EV model will be manufactured at the brand’s Leipzig- facility that currently manufactures models like the Panamera and the Macan. Further, information coming in claims that the new flagship SUV model will be larger, wider and have a longer wheelbase than the current gen Cayenne while sporting a quite unique and distinctive design language.
Moving ahead with electrification, Porsche plans to drive 80% of its sales through EVs by 2030. Along with this, it will also pilot the research and development of an advanced version of the SSP platform, internally called SSP Sport. The said platform will accompany the development of new performance-oriented electric motors, battery components and battery cells among others. This SSP Sport platform will be extensively used by other members of the VW group including Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini.
Tata Motors will launch the new Sierra ICE and EV before the end of this year - Harrier EV launch expected in May-June 2025.
