If you are considering purchasing a new Maruti Suzuki Baleno, you might find the new Fronx more appealing. Essentially a Baleno with SUVish charisma, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx can be a compelling option for customers seeking the styling allure of the Grand Vitara within a more affordable price range.
Despite being based on the Baleno at the core, the 2023 Maruti Suzuki Fronx looks utterly different from its hatchback sibling. Based on the brand’s 5th-gen Heartect platform and following the 'Crafted Futurism’ design philosophy, it looks muscular and upright from both the front & the rear. Furthermore, its swooping roofline and curvaceous body panels give it a contemporary coupe-like appeal.

From the front, the 2023 Fronx looks like a scaled-down version of the Grand Vitara, featuring a huge NEXWave grille flanked by Nexa’s three-block crystal LED DRLs at the top and a triangular LED headlamp unit at the bottom with three projector lamps, which are nestled deep within the housing. Further increasing its sporty yet bold appeal is the raised hood line, intense creases on the bumper and a silver faux skid plate.
Sitting on the 16-inch machine-cut alloy wheels shod with chunky 195/60-section tyres, the all-new Maruti Fronx stands confidently. The front doors and the window glass sections look identical to the Baleno. However, its racked A-pillar lend it to a cab-forward design. Moreover, the sloping roof line with silver rails, chunky body cladding, elevated ground clearance (190mm, +20mm from Baleno) and squared-off wheel arches contribute to its new-age SUV-coupe-esque appeal.
At the rear, the 2023 Fronx amplifies the sporty quotient with the connected LED taillights, while the silver skid plate and beefy bumper end to a macho look.

Inside, the dashboard design is identical to the Baleno, save for the Grand Vitara-like black-&-maroon colour scheme instead of Baleno’s black-&-blue theme. Highlights of the cabin include a floating 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a multi-layered dashboard and toggle switches for the HVAC.
| Maruti Suzuki Fronx | Difference From Baleno | |
| Length | 3,995mm (+5mm) | +5mm |
| Width | 1,765mm (+20mm) | +20mm |
| Height | 1,550mm (+50mm) | +50mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,520mm | - |
| Ground Clearance | 190mm | +20mm |
| Boot Space | 308 litres | -10 litres |
With its new-age coupe-inspired design, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx looks quite appealing, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a compact SUV with a premium appearance.
