Launched in March 2026, the third-generation Renault Duster has been generating healthy volumes for the French automaker in India. The SUV lineup, which is currently available with two turbocharged petrol engines, will soon be expanded with a strong hybrid powertrain. Renault has already revealed the launch timeline and engine specifications of the Duster hybrid.
Renault India has confirmed that the Duster hybrid will arrive near the 2026 Diwali festive season. The hybrid version has already been sold out for 2026 production cycle, and bookings have been temporarily halted.
The SUV’s hybrid version is expected to command a premium of around Rs 2 lakh over the ICE-powered Duster, which is currently priced between Rs 10.49 lakh – Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Renault Duster hybrid will look exactly identical to its ICE-powered version, expect for the ‘Hybrid’ badges on the exterior and inside the cabin. The SUV will feature the familiar grille, LED headlamps with eyebrow-shaped DRLs, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, rugged body cladding, functional roof rails, a rear bumper with a contrasting silver surround and triangular connected taillamps.
Similar to its ICE version, the Duster hybrid will measure 4,346mm in length, 1,815mm in width and 1,701mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,657mm. The SUV will offer a ground clearance of 212mm, and a boot space of 518-litres. The SUV will have a roof load capacity of 50kg.
The strong hybrid powertrain will be offered exclusively on higher trims, which will be packed with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Google and wireless smartphone connectivity, leatherette seat upholstery with contrasting accents, front ventilated seats, electrically adjustable front seats, PM2.5 air filter, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, auto dimming IRVM, wireless smartphone charger, and more.
The strong-hybrid Duster will feature a 1.8L, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors – a 20bhp motor working as a starter-generator and a 49bhp traction motor that drives the wheels. The system is further assisted by a 1.4kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque, making it more powerful than the hybrid versions of the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. The SUV comes with a multi-mode clutchless automatic gearbox.
Featuring a strong hybrid powertrain, the Renault Duster will take directly on the hybrid versions of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. It will also be positioned against the upcoming next-generation Hyundai Creta hybrid and Kia Seltos hybrid.
