Upcoming Hyundai Cars In 2024

The Korean automaker, Hyundai is currently the second-largest car manufacturer in the Indian market. The company sells a wide range of cars starting from the Grand i10 Nios to the Ioniq 5 electric SUV. However, Tata Motors is giving tough competition to the Korean brand and is eyeing the second position in the list of top car brands of India. 

In order to retain its market share, Hyundai is set to introduce multiple new models and facelifts of existing Hyundai Cars in 2024. 

Here is a List of Upcoming New Cars and SUVs from the House of Hyundai Motor India:

Hyundai Alcazar 2024

After introducing the new Creta facelift, Hyundai is now ready to launch the mid-life facelift of the Alcazar 3-row SUV. Testing of the Hyundai Alcazar facelift has already been started on the Indian roads. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the Hyundai Alcazar facelift gets revised front fascia with a bigger grille, new split LED headlamps and new bumper. The SUV will also receive an advanced driver assistance system or ADAS.

Similar to the new Creta, the Alcazar facelift is expected to receive a significantly revised interior. It will have a new dashboard layout featuring the conjoined 10.25-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument console. 

The SUV will continue to be offered with the same set of engines including a 157.8hp, 1.5L turbo petrol and a 114.4hp, 1.5L turbo diesel. While the exact launch timeline is yet to be revealed, we expect the new Alcazar to go on sale by October 2024.

Hyundai Tucson 2024

Hyundai has revealed the Hyundai Tucson facelift for the global markets. The same model is expected to be launched in our market before the end of this financial year. The updated model has received subtle design changes and an upgraded interior. In terms of styling, the SUV gets the revised sleeker & wider Parametric Jewel grille design with the lighting setup, and a bigger front bumper.

It comes with a skid plate and revised headlamp design. The side profile appears identical to the previous model; except for the new alloys. At the back, the SUV gets a new bumper that now has a bigger skid plate. The cabin received maximum changes with an all-new dashboard, featuring a dual-integrated screen setup and a new steering wheel. 

It has a new touch-based climate control panel, while the drive-selector lever is placed behind the steering wheel. The India-spec model is likely to retain the existing engine & gearbox setup.

Hyundai Creta EV

The last model in our list of upcoming Hyundai cars in 2024 is the Creta EV that has been spotted testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It is reported that the production of the new Creta EV will begin later this year in December. 

The electric SUV will receive several EV specific changes, which makes it look different from the ICE version. The electric SUV will come with a blanked-off grille, restyled bumper and new alloys. The charging port is positioned on the front fender.

Similar to the new Creta & modern Hyundai cars, the new Creta EV is likely to get the dual-display setup for the infotainment & driver's display. It is expected to offer dual-zone climate control, new steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, etc. 

It will also come with Level 2 ADAS tech with adaptive cruise control, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking and others. It is expected to be packed with a 50kWh battery pack and a front-axle mounted electric motor. The SUV should offer a realistic range of around 400km on a single charge.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

After the successful introduction of the Ioniq 5 electric crossover, Hyundai  is now planning to launch a new Ioniq 6 electric sedan in the Indian market. The company is yet to make an official announcement on the same; however, media reports claim that the electric sedan could be introduced as a CBU or CKD. 

Hyundai had displayed the Ioniq 6 electric sedan at the 2023 Auto Expo. The four-door electric sedan is claimed to offer an estimated driving range of 547km. It supports ultra-fast charging that can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. 

The electric sedan is built on Hyundai's Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that supports scalable battery sizes, RWD or AWD layout, a flat floor for spacious cabin & EV-specific dimensions. 

The sedan is designed in a manner to have an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.22. In the global markets, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan is available with two battery size options - 53kWh and 77kWh. The Dual Motor produces 302bhp and 605Nm, while the RWD setup pushes out 228bhp and 350Nm. 

The RWD version is claimed to offer a driving range of 429km and 614km with 53kWh and 77.4kWh battery packs, respectively. The AWD version delivers a WLTP certified range of 583km in a single charge. 

Using a 350-kW fast charger, the Ioniq electric sedan can offer 100km range in just 5 minutes. With the standard 10.9kw on-board charger, the battery can be fully charged in 7 hours and 10 minutes. It also offers V2L (Vehicle 2 Load) function, which allows customers to charge any electric devices, such as electric bicycles, scooters or camping equipment.

Q1.Will Hyundai Ioniq 6 Come to India?

Hyundai had showcased the Ioniq 6 electric sedan at the 16th edition of the Indian Auto Expo. While the official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, media reports suggest that the EV could arrive in our market in 2024-25. 

Q2. Will Hyundai Launch Elantra in India in 2024?

Hyundai has no plans to launch the Elantra sedan in the Indian market. The company had introduced the new-gen Verna sedan, which is not getting good response from buyers. The sedan segment is shrinking and Hyundai does not want to make a big investment to introduce the bigger & more expensive Elantra. Hyundai could take the CBU route to introduce limited numbers of Elantra sedans in our market.
