Hyundai's 3-row hybrid SUV launching in 2027. Renault Boreal 7-seater hybrid set for mid-2026. Toyota Hyryder 7-seater hybrid with upgraded features.
The hybrid car segment is heating up in India with several exciting models set to launch between 2025 and 2027. Automakers like Hyundai, Renault, Toyota, and Maruti Suzuki are gearing up to unveil new hybrid SUVs, including several seven-seater variants.
Here is the list of some of the upcoming hybrid cars in India, including the much-awaited seven-seater hybrid SUVs.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a 7-seater Grand Vitara SUV, targeting a premium segment above 4.5 meters in length. Set for launch between 2026-2027, this SUV will challenge rivals like the Tata Safari and Hyundai Alcazar.
Powered by a Toyota-sourced 1.5L TNGA hybrid engine, the Grand Vitara hybrid will likely feature a 1.5L NA petrol engine as well. It will come with all-new design elements and will feature a spacious interior to accommodate a third-row seat, offering a perfect balance of luxury and efficiency in the upcoming hybrid cars.

Toyota Hyryder 7-seater, based on the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, has already been spotted testing and is expected to launch soon. This model will feature an extended wheelbase to accommodate the third row of seats, with design changes that include sleeker LED DRLs and revised bumpers.
The engine options will include a 1.5L petrol engine with mild and strong hybrid tech, and a CNG variant. With better safety features such as ADAS, six airbags, and a 360-degree camera, the Toyota Hyryder 7-seater hybrid will offer both performance and fuel efficiency, making it one of the top upcoming hybrid 7-seater cars in India.
Renault is preparing to launch the Boreal 7-seater hybrid SUV in mid-2026. This model will be a key offering in the C-segment for the brand and is expected to come with both petrol and hybrid engine options. The hybrid version will feature a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 51bhp motor and a 1.4kWh battery. Combined, it will deliver 155bhp.
With a stylish design and advanced tech features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an ambient lighting system with 48 color options, the Renault Boreal will surely attract attention in the upcoming hybrid 7-seater cars in India.
Nissan is set to launch a 7-seater version of its popular 5-seater C-SUV in India by early 2027. Unlike a simple "plus-2" configuration, this new 7-seater will be engineered as a true three-row SUV. Based on the Renault Boreal platform, similar to how the 5-seater Nissan SUV is based on the Renault Duster, the new Nissan D-SUV will offer more advanced features than its Renault counterpart.
While it will share the engine and mechanical components with the Boreal, it's still uncertain if the 7-seater will feature a strong hybrid powertrain, as Renault plans to introduce hybrid technology in both the Duster and Boreal in India.
Hyundai is working on a new 3-row SUV, set for launch in 2027. This upcoming hybrid model will sit above the Hyundai Alcazar and will compete with rivals like the Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari. The new SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.6-litre petrol-hybrid powertrain, which is already offered in international markets.
Hyundai may also introduce a 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine hybrid. Built on the Tucson LWB platform, the SUV will be a significant player in the upcoming hybrid cars in India 2025-2027.
