Indian car manufacturers have released their sales numbers for the last month of CY2025, that’s December, and most brands have reported positive sales growth. The increasing sales clearly reflects the growing incomes of Indian buyers amidst global turbulence. India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has reported a massive 36.5% increase in its year-on-year sales in the domestic market. On the other hand, Kia posted its best-ever December 2025.

Maruti Suzuki has reported a total sales of 192,115 units, including sales to OEMs, in domestic market in December 2025 as against 140,829 units in the same month last year. The company reported a massive 36.5 percent year-on-year increase in its sales in the month of December 2025. Total sales for the month stood at 217,854 units, registering a 22.3 percent increase from 178,248 units sold in the month of December 2024. However, Maruti’s exports declined to 25,739 units in December 2025, compared with 37,419 units in the same month last year. The brand’s exports declined by 31.2 percent.
Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 92,929 units in the mini and compact cars segment, while the utility vehicles recorded sales of 73,818 units. The company sold a total of 11,899 Vans in the month of December, 2025. MSIL has also closed calendar year 2025 with its highest-ever total sales of 2,351,139 units, which also included record exports of 395,648 units.
Mahindra & Mahindra has reported a 25 percent YoY sales growth in overall automobile sales in December 2025. In the UV segment, the company sold 50,946 units in the domestic market during the month, registering a 23 percent increase over the year-ago period.

Tata Motors also posted a strong sales in the month of December 2025. The company sold a total of 50,519 units as against 44,289 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 14.1 percent. The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 50,046 units in December 2025 as against 44,230 units, reporting a YoY sales growth of 13.1 percent. The company’s EV sales stood at 6,906 units as against 5,562 units in December 2025, registering a YOY sales growth of 24.2 percent.

Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, “CY25 saw steady progress for the PV industry powered by a growing preference for SUVs and accelerating adoption of cleaner, emission-friendly powertrains. For Tata Motors, it was the fifth consecutive year of record-breaking annual sales, with 587,218 units sold, including the highest-ever EV volumes of 81,125 units in a calendar year.
Toyota recorded the highest ever calendar year sales with total 3,88,801 units in 2025, reporting a growth of 19% compared to the 3,26,329 units sold in CY 2024. The company exported 37,221 units in 2025 as against 26,170 units in the same month last year, reporting a YoY sales growth of 42 percent.
In December 2025, TKM recorded total sales of 39,333 units compared to 29,529 units in December 2024, marking a Y-o-Y growth of 33%. The domestic sales for December 2025 stood at 34,157 units, while exports accounted for 5176 units making it a total of 39,333 units.

Kia ends the calendar year 2025 on a strong note, registering total wholesale volumes of 280,286 units as against 245,000 units in CY 2024. The company reported a 15 per cent annual growth. The company has also recorded the best-ever December since inception with sales of 18,659 units, translating into a 105% Year-On-Year growth compared to 8,957 units in December 2024. The company’s popular model Kia Sonet, which crossed the 100,000-unit sales milestone for the second consecutive year, was supported by Seltos and contributed significantly to overall sales

JSW MG Motor India recorded a 19 percent year-on-year growth in CY 2025 compared to CY 2024. The carmaker sold a total of 70,554 units in the calendar year 2025. MG SELECT, the brand’s luxury retail channel, witnessed 38% MoM wholesale growth. The company registered 6500 wholesale units in December 2025, reflecting sustained demand across its ICE and EV portfolios.
