Tata Motor’s flagship SUVs, the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari make successful returns to the Indian market in an all-new avatar. Running high on the back of the Tata Nexon and the Nexon.ev launch, Tata Motors has unveiled the new Tata Safari and Tata Harrier Facelifts in the country. The new SUVs feature significant exterior and interior refreshes along with a host of feature additions. Let’s dig deep.

Inspired by the Tata Curvv concept, the 2024 Tata Safari and Tata Harrier feature a sporty design that represents dynamism. Upfront both models feature a parametric grille with a persona-based identity giving the car a premium look. The four-wheelers also feature a full-width LED DRL at the top along with bumper-mounted jewelled design LED headlamps. Additionally, the large air intake at the bottom along with a prominent skid plate completes the front look of the SUVs.
In profile, both models retain their signature identity but feature updated designs for the 19-inch alloy wheels. While the Harrier gets new aero-insert alloy wheels, the Safari features a new dual-tone spider-design alloy wheel. Moving to the rear, the tailgate is identical to the outgoing models, but now features a connected LED light bar along with new horizontal lines and vertical sculptural elements helping complete the rugged SUV look. The new models also come equipped with smart Welcome and Goodbye animation loaded into the front and rear LED DRLs along with a gesture-controlled powered tailgate.
Overall, the new refreshed look has helped Tata Motors uplift the premium quotient of its flagship SUVs while retaining their signature design.

Moving inside, the cabin is dominated by large screens. While the overall cabin still features a multi-layered dashboard design similar to the outgoing model, the use of new materials and the addition of new elements has given the interior a more sophisticated and premium look.
The centrepiece of the new cabin is the large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system along with the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with customisable modes. Other notable elements include a gloss black capacitive control unit with dual-zone AC, ventilated seats front row seats (even in the 2nd row on the Safari), an electrically adjustable seat with welcome function, a wireless charger, a new four-spoke illuminated steering wheel, a large panoramic sunroof, 10-speaker JBL music system and mood lighting on the dashboard and around the sunroof with persona-based themes.
Adding to the premiumness of the cabin is the new bejeweled rotary dial that helps control the multi-terrain and the multi-drive modes giving the four-wheelers its much-needed SUV cred. Overall, the changes to the cabin complement well with the exterior updates helping uplift the premium quotient of these flagship models.
In terms of powertrain options, the 2024 Tata Safari and the Tata Harrier Facelift continue to come powered by the FCA-sourced 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine. This unit is rated for 170 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox with a shift-by-wire system and paddle shifter. Both SUVs are provided with three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport along with three terrain response modes – Normal, Rough and Wet on select variants.

Built on the robust OMEGARC architecture, the latest iteration of the Tara Safari and the Tata Harrier take safety up a notch with more equipment on offer. The company now provides up to 7 airbags (6 airbags standard), ESP, ABS with EBD, hill-hold control, 360-degree surround view monitor, blind-spot monitoring, TPMS and more on the new models.
In addition to these, the company has also extended its ADAS suite which it introduced with the Red Dark edition earlier this year to include 11 key functions like Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Forward & Rear Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and more.

In sync with Tata Motors new variant nomenclature, the new Tata Harrier is offered in four personas – Smart, Pure, Adventure and Fearless while the new Safari is available in Smart, Pure, Adventure and a new top-spec Accomplished persona. Both SUVs will be available with a Dark mode at launch which will be available in an exclusive Oberon Black colour.
So, Tata Motors is all set to launch the new Tata Safari and the new Tata Harrier facelift on 17 October, right in time for the start of the festive season and also reveal the prices for the model. Before the prices are announced, what do you think of the new models? Let us know.
