Mahindra celebrated the Independence Day 2025 by showcasing its 4 futuristic SUV concepts along with its new modular platform, called the NU_IQ. While these SUVs will start arriving in our market from 2027 onwards, Mahindra will introduce new EVs and facelifts of existing SUVs, including the XUV700 and Thar.
Testing of new Mahindra XUV700 and Thar 3-door facelifts have already been started. The spy images reveal interesting details about the design and interior changes of both SUVs. Apart from these two SUVs, Mahindra will launch the long-awaited XEV 7e or XUV700 electric in our market in early 2026.
Launch Details - Q1, 2026 (January-March 2026)
Engine - 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel
Competition - Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus

The updated XUV700 is likely to receive subtle design upgrades, but major changes will be made inside the cabin. On the outside, the Mahindra XUV700 facelift will have a revised grille with vertical slats, an updated headlamp setup and the DRLs. The SUV will come with heavily updated lower bumper that accommodates air intakes and new housing for fog lamps.
The XUV700 facelift is likely to receive prominent wheel arches and newly designed alloy wheels. At the back, the SUV will have revised LED tail-lights connected by an LED light bar and a tweaked lower bumper.
Inside the cabin, the new Mahindra XUV700 facelift will have a triple screen dashboard comprising a touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital driver’d display and a co-passenger entertainment screen. The passenger screen is likely to allow video streaming, games, navigation help and even video calls.
The XUV700 facelift is expected to receive new upholstery for seats and new interior scheme. It is likely to get ventilated front and rear seats, self-parking assist, an updated Harman audio system with Dolby Atmos tech and an auto dimming IRVM.

It is expected that the Thar facelift could arrive before Diwali 2025, a possible launch in September 2025 can’t be ignored. The spy images confirm that the Thar 3-door facelift will share design and interior changes with the Thar Roxx. It will have a heavily revised front fascia, featuring a new front grille, signature round LED Projector headlamp unit. The SUV will have an updated LED tail-lamps and new 5-spoke alloy wheels.
The cabin of the Mahindra Thar 3-door will receive major changes. It will come with a larger 10.250-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. The SUV could get a new 10.25-inch digital instrument console. The power window switch control panel will be moved to door panels instead of the centre console in current car.
The Thar facelift is likely to get automatic climate control, and an updated premium sound system. It will continue to offer a multi-functional steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, and remote keyless entry. Mahindra could add ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist and others.
