Mahindra is getting ready to launch the updated XUV700, which will now be called the Mahindra XUV 7XO. Ahead of its global debut on January 5, fresh spy shots have revealed key details about the SUV, especially its new AX9L top trim and major interior upgrades. Here’s everything we know so far.

Mahindra XUV 7XO has been spied testing again, confirming big changes over the outgoing XUV700. The facelift not only brings a new name but also a revised variant line-up. The new Mahindra XUV 7XO AX9L will sit at the top, replacing the current AX7L as the flagship trim.
Externally, the test mule was camouflaged, but visible updates include a refreshed grille, revised headlamp housings, and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The LED tail lamps appear similar to those seen on the XEV 9S. A new set of alloy wheels is also expected, while the overall side profile remains largely unchanged.
The biggest changes are inside the cabin. The Mahindra XUV 7XO features a new dual-tone interior theme finished in Brown and Beige shades. Premium leatherette upholstery with perforation has been spotted, hinting at ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers.
The highlight of the cabin is the new triple-screen setup, featuring three 12.3-inch displays placed in a single wide housing. This layout gives the dashboard a more modern and tech-focused look. Other expected features include:
- New steering wheel with illuminated logo
- Premium Harman Kardon sound system
- Panoramic sunroof
- Powered tailgate
- Electric boss mode
- Rear window blinds
- Auto-dimming IRVM
- Level-2+ ADAS suite
These updates clearly position the AX9L as the most premium version of the XUV 7XO yet.
Mechanically, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is expected to continue with the same engine options. These include a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing up to 200 PS and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine with up to 185 PS. Both engines will be offered with 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes.
The recently spied AX9L test mule was a diesel automatic with 4WD, confirming that off-road capability will continue. Official Mahindra XUV 7XO mileage figures will be revealed closer to launch.
Mahindra XUV 7XO launch date is set for January 5, 2026, with full details expected on that day. The Mahindra XUV 7XO price is likely to see a slight increase over the current XUV700, especially for the AX9L top trim due to added features.
Mahindra XUV 7XO bookings are expected to open shortly after the official reveal, with deliveries likely to follow soon after.
With its new name, premium AX9L trim, and a heavily updated interior, the Mahindra XUV 7XO aims to stay competitive against rivals like the Tata Harrier, Safari, MG Hector, and Hector Plus. More details will be confirmed at the official debut next month.
