The homegrown automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, had introduced the XUV 700 mid-sized SUV in the country in August 2021. The SUV comes as a replacement for the XUV 500 and received an overwhelming response from car buyers.
The Mahindra XUV700 comes as a replacement for the popular XUV 500 SUV. The SUV is designed at Mahindra Research Valley in India with help of Mahindra Design Studio, UK. It is based on an all-new global monocoque SUV platform, which is stronger and safer. The Mahindra SUV is available as the five and seven-seater SUV with both petrol and diesel engine options.
The Mahindra XUV 700 is available in 5 trim levels - MX, AX3, AX5, AX7 and AX7 L - and in total of 46 variants. The XUV700 price in India starts at Rs 1399000 and goes up to Rs 2698999. All the prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
Most Value-for-Money Variant
We recommend you to go for the Mahindra XUV700 AX5 diesel variant. This variant is available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. It gets features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and LED reflector headlamps.
Additionally, it gets 6 airbags, panoramic sunroof, 17-inch machined alloys, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and drive modes. This is the right variant for those who do not want ADAS and other high-end features.
If you are ready to shed extra, we recommend you to go for the top-spec AX7 diesel MT and AT variants of the XUV700 SUV. This variant gets features like leather upholstery, 18-inch machined alloys, TPMS, and a rear camera. For driver's comfort, it gets a 6-way powered driver seat with memory and welcome function. Additionally, it has auto wipers, 2-zone auto AC, electronic parking brake with 4WD layout, and others.
The ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and auto emergency braking. It also gets forward collision warning and traffic sign recognition.
The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the most feature-loaded SUVs on sale in the country. It gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the SUV gets a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, and a 6-way power adjustable driver seat with memory function.
The top variant of the Mahindra XUV700 gets electronic park brake, 360-degree surround view camera, and a panoramic sunroof. Other features include LED lighting system, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and sweeping LED indicators.
The XUV700 is available with two engine options - a 2.0-litre, mStallion turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel. The turbocharged petrol engine churns out 197hp and 380Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the XUV 700 petrol engine gets either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The diesel engine offers two states of tunes - 152hp/360Nm and 182hp/420Nm. The torque output increases to 450Nm with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Other gearbox options include a 6-speed manual gearbox. The top-spec AX7 L variant also gets a 4WD (four-wheel-drive) layout.
The diesel manual and automatic variants returns ARAI mileage of 17kmpl and 16.57kmpl, respectively. The petrol MT delivers 15kmpl, while the automatic variant returns 13kmpl. In real world conditions, the diesel XUV700 should offer a fuel efficiency of around 12-13kmpl.
The SUV presents the brand's more modern design philosophy, which we have also seen on new breeds of Mahindra's like XUV 3XO. The front fascia gets a muscular bonnet, and a new grille with twin vertical bars, and new sweptback LED headlamp units.
Moving to the side, the SUV has new flush door handles and newly styled 18-inch machined-cut alloy wheels. There is a signature kink behind the C-pillar, which is similar to the one offered in the discontinued XUV500. The SUV has black body cladding all-around the body to offer a rugged feel. At the back, the MODEL gets tri-arrow tail-lights, a roof-mounted spoiler and silver skid plate.
It comes with a layered dashboard with dual-tone black and beige finish. The soft touch materials all around the dashboard and interior body panels gives it a premium feel. The dashboard is dominated by dual HD screens - one for the infotainment unit and the other one for driver's display.
Mahindra has added several comfort and convenience features in the XUV700. It gets powered driver's seat with memory function, front ventilated seats, and dual-zone climate control
The Mahindra XUV 700 measures 4695mm in length, 1890mm in width and 1755mm in height. It rides on a 2750mm longer wheelbase, while the ground clearance stands at 200mm. The top-end variant of the SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels.
With all 7 seats in position, the XUV700 offers a boot space of 240-litres. The boot space is expandable by folding the third-row seats.
Infotainment and connectivity (Music System)
The new Mahindra XUV700 gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For music lovers, the SUV offers 12 speakers and a 3D sound system. The sound system is developed in partnership with Sony Corporation.

Some of the connected features are remote door lock & unlock, time & geofencing, live vehicle tracking & sharing, remote start/stop, safety and security alerts, and others.
The safety features of the Mahindra XUV700 include multiple airbags, automatic headlamps, electronic stability control, reverse camera, and others. The higher variants also get tyre pressure monitoring system, rain sensing wipers, driver drowsiness detection, blind view monitor and 360 degree camera.
