Tata Motors is preparing to launch multiple new SUVs in the country over the period of next couple of years. The company will give mid-life upgrades to its popular SUV, the Punch, while the Harrier and Safari will receive petrol derivatives. The homegrown passenger vehicle maker is also readying two new lifestyle SUVs with massive road presence.

Tata Motors will bring back the iconic Sierra nameplate in both ICE and EV avatars. The Sierra EV will arrive during festive season 2025, while the ICE model will launch in Q1, 2026. The SUV was showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo in near-production form. It is clear that the SUV will retain the iconic Boxy design with rugged body cladding, boxy profile and large glass areas.
The new Sierra will measure around 4.3-4.4 meters in length, making it a direct rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Victoris. However, the SUV looks bigger in real and offers massive road presence. The new Sierra will come with high-end comfort and convenience features, including a triple screen dashboard. The electric version is also likely to get a lounge variant with individual seats for two adults in second-row.
In terms of features, the SUV will have dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS tech, HUD, a 360-degree surround view camera and others. The Sierra EV is expected to be offered with two battery choices - a 65kWh and a 75kWh - and a front-axle-mounted electric motor. Similar to the Harrier EV, the top-spec model could get an AWD or QWD drivetrain.
The Sierra ICE will be offered with two petrol engine choices, including a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol. The diesel version will get the 2.0L turbo unit that powers the Harrier and Safari.

Tata Motors is developing a new compact SUV, codenamed Scarlet. The new SUV will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV and will sit above the Nexon in Tata’s line-up. Media reports claim that the new SUV will share the design with the soon-to-be-launched Sierra, which has a boxy and upright design.
The design language will focus on a bold and upright front fascia, giving it a rugged and urban-ready appeal. It will be loaded with features like a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, wireless connectivity, HUD, front and rear parking sensors, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS and others. It won’t offer AWD or 4WD option, which keeps it more road-focused rather than a full-fledged off-roader like the Mahindra Thar.
The Scarlet is likely to be powered by a 1.2L direct injection turbo petrol engine that produces 123bhp. Adding to it, the SUV could get the 1.5L NA petrol engine. An electric derivative of the SUV is also expected to be launched. The Tata Scarlet lifestyle SUV is likely to arrive sometime in late 2026 or 2027.
